MG4 Problems

This is what MG Customer Care advised I try:

Complete a factory reset on the FICM by following the below steps:
Select ‘settings’ in the FICM
⦁ Select ‘system’
⦁ Select ‘restore to factory settings’ then ‘restore’
⦁ Wait 1 minute for the FICM to shut down and then hold your finger on the ‘home button’ for 5 seconds to reboot

Has anyone done this before and is there any risk in doing it or is it a case of it cannot make things any worse?

Doing that will mean you lose all custom configurations (like Star button settings, radio favourites, CUSTOM mode settings etc.). No biggie to redo them though.

Thanks for the reply I will give it a go this weekend although I am not very optimistic it will solve the issue as it seems more like a hardware fault to me.

A quick update. Since buying the car from MG Darlington 4 weeks ago the car has now spent approx nearly 2 weeks back at the dealership.
I have been fed a steady stream of b£^^*!t by the dealership "It will be ready tomorrow", "It has taken a bit longer but it will defenitely be ready tomorrow".
Beyond frustration at this point and regret ever buying the car. I have had more trouble in 4 weeks than I had in 5 years of owning a Renault.

It's really flakey. Took me a couple of months before I managed to get a proper connection. I actually didn't do anything beyond moving my router to the window sill. It must need wifi for something, at least for the initial connection. It's all so vague tbh

I fell out with them as they told me a pack of lies when I tried to get things sorted out at my second service. If you want to try a different dealer I have heard good reports about Croxdale but my experience of the dealer about 15 miles east of Darlington (down the A66) wasn't any better than Darlington.

@Dustbag, I had a similar issue where I couldn't connect the iSmart app to the car although it had previously worked for 6 months then suddenly stopped working. After 3 visits to the dealer for software upgrades and being told it would now work it didn't still. I too had no signal on the eSim. Eventually it was diagnosed as a T Box fault. After this was replaced it all worked again.
You do however have to be carefull with the bind process because it is possible to create 2 accounts for the car, one as an email and one as a phone number when you set it up from the infotainment screen. It can only be bound to one device (by email account in my case) but it looks like you can add extra devices from the main account for supplementary users as has been pointed out.

How would a car be unbound? For example on my car I just have an email address, but can’t see anyway to unbind as when you click email it wants to enter a new one?
