Mg4 software versions

Hi everyone! I'm waiting for brand new MG4 standard in Portugal.

For what I gathered here, are these the software versions I want to see when I pick the car up?

...R38
SC077

Are both software versions seen on Settings -> System?

And the MCU software version?

These are the latest for the SE SR (Standard) - at least for the earlier models:

It's the SWI part that's important though ... the newer cars will likely be on the SWI131 or similar software branch, in which case the Rxx number may well be different. (I don't know that the latest is for the SWI131 or similar branch).

Thank you Mouss and siteguru.
I guess this isn't straightforward as I thought. Just hope my unit wasn't in for stock too long, and get a decent software version out of the box.

Why don't you have a chat with your supplying dealer about the software levels that come with the car? Suggest that you'll take the car as it is, drive a few 100kms and report back with any issues you find as there might not be any issues at all. My dealer suggested an upgrade on my Xpower, even though I had no issues with the car after nearly 1 year. My dealer suggested I come in before the service (which is now next week) for the software updates which were performed 3 weeks ago, all free of charge, always best to have a talk with them first.

I’ll bring it up with the dealer, but it will depend on their goodwill. I haven’t even driven the car yet, so I’m not really in the best position to complain.
Just out of curiosity: when I asked the dealer whether the lane-keep assist issue had been fixed, they completely denied that the problem ever existed.
I bought the car because I got a very good deal, and I think it’s generally a good car for the price. I guess they’re trying to clear their stock ahead of the new MG4.

That doesn't bode well ... the LKA issue is well-documented, there are loads of YouTube videos where this is mentioned. The service campaign update is called SC077 and entails updates to the FDR (Forward Detection Radar) and FVCM (Forward View Camera Module) ... the 2 key sensors used to implement the LKA feature. :)

Mine was updated at the 2nd service in November 2024.

But if your car comes with SWI131 (or SWI132 - I can't remember which applies for the SE) then those updates may have already been included.

Is anyone still having problems with lane assist despite software being updated, or in a brand new car? Am asking because my son picked up a new MG4 a couple of days ago, and the following day had an accident. He was in the middle of three lanes, and ended up crashing into the nearside barrier, having crossed the nearside lane. He has concussion and has no memory of the accident. We are awaiting news of the footage from the CCTV and results of investigation. As he doesnt remember the crash, we don't know what happened or caused it, so I just wanted to check if the software update fixed the lane assist problem?

my car is going for a service soon. Could anyone let me know what is the latest for the sw132

I am currently on

SWI132-29958-1100R29
MCU is 133.4.8.0

Sorry to read this.

For what it’s worth, LKA works very well on my 2025 XPOWER and is certainly a lot better than my 2019 Evoque which was violent and down right dangerous, even though the dealer always said it was normal behaviour.

Similar to my '25 XPOWER, the occasional beep and nudge of the wheel but nothing too intrusive.

Hi all, I’ve just had my car warranty appointment and they said they’d updated the software to the latest available (the car was with them for 4h and I kept receiving abnormal errors on the app). Just checked the settings and the MPU still shows the same as SWI69-29958-1100R13. It’s a 23 plate MG4 SE SR. Have they lied about updating it or is it possible the settings screen is wrong? Thanks!

That is only the infotainment version. All other modules that they (may have) updated are not visible to the user.

R13 is fairly old and my issue with that was no audio instructions when using Android Auto for navigation while listening to the radio which was corrected on R33

Ah thanks that makes sense! They did say they’d updated everything and one of the things I brought it in for was carplay disconnecting or not connecting first try. Does the infotainment ‘R’ version affect LKA at all or could I check if they’d updated this elsewhere?
P.S. do you have to pay to have the infotainment updated?

LKA when updated should now give 5mph increase when pressing the up button on the ACC (cruise control ) when it was 1mph increase previously. The R version has no bearing on LKA version.

If you want to update the infotainment you can do it yourself - instructions and files are available on another post in this forum.

If you still have disconnection problems after the updates carried out it may be a TBox issue but I would see how it goes.
