In sorry I was wrong about your version number so before I answer can you please say what you want out of recognising speed signs. Note that my 2023 MG4 Trophy is not very good at this, often detecting 20mph signs from side roads as you drive on the main 30mph. There is a setting in MG Pilot that allows you to switch this on and off.
Hi, all I want is for the car to recognise and the road speed limit. I had this on previous ICE cars and it worked quite well.

It's really poorly implemented on the mg4, I have access to and drive regularly 3 different EVs and the wife's MG4 is the only one with issues on any of the safety systems

@MikeG, you can switch on/off the speed sign detection, although the default seems to be on for some people. If you select speed limit control via MG Pilot then you have a choice of Manual or Intelligent. With Manual you control the speed setting using the lefthand steering wheel centre button and the on/off via the lefthand button that looks like a steering wheel. With Intelligent control the car 'says' it uses the speed sign recognition system which, as I have pointed out, is not good. See page 12 of the Trophy Guide.

I have not tried intelligent speed control.

Hi, OK some success two weeks into new car. Did an overnight ride from Chichester to Bournemouth via IKEA. Journey used about 25% power and from Southampton to Bournemouth speed recognition working. Worked perfectly on the way back.
I now switch on and set the car on Pilot/intelligent, then turn off speed warnings and off I go. Let’s hope the speed sign recognition continues to work.
Now off to read the electronic manuals….

Yep. Speed limit recognition is pretty bad on the MG4. I turn it off every time I get in the car and keep Waze running. Waze gets it right 99% of the time- the exact opposite of the MG4's performance. It's a great little car let down by pretty awful software.

Agree and I'd add in aftersales after the wife's experiences
