Success here too! Although as I didn't want to sit in watching it, when I opened the driver's door to get out, the car goes out of ready mode and the update stopped (with a "you must stay in ready mode" warning).

So I had to get out, into the passenger seat, lean on the drivers seat and reach down to press the brake pedal to get it back in ready mode, then start the update again, before being able to get out the passenger side instead.

Then it happily updated on its own for half an hour.

@Seajays, that's strange because I needed to get out of the car, an age thing, after about 30 minutes whilst it was loading the maps and it continued.

Yeah - it was somewhat annoying. The moment I opened the drivers door the update stopped with the warning message. May be a feature of the software version I'm on.

Got to love these cars they have so much personality in all their little quirks! Mine obviously thought it would be funny to make me do it that way...

I assumed I had to stay in Ready mode, as I did when updating the ZS I had before, so I stayed sat in the car for 50 minutes, knowing if I got out of the seat it would drop out of ready mode.


Next time I'l try leaving the car.

It depends on the SW Version and maybe MY of the MG... I had to set it into ready mode and stay in the car. R63 Lux MY23..

In the past there was one or two versions that had a different file name but were the same contents. Has anyone that updated the maps seen something new or has compared the old and new updates? I deleted the last update files sadly.

My satnav seems to have updated itself of its own accord - at least, the appearance has changed (e.g. colours of road categories). Is this possible, or is it my imagination?

My Android Auto display will do that as my phone updates itself, but I didn't think the car's own software would do it.

Also tried the other method i have used in the past -https://iov-mapmg.soimt.com/#/downloadMap however this fails when you click on the link to download the maps with an XML error as the link is pointing to the wrong file

What is the ISA package for?

I think it stands for "Intelligent Speed Assist" and has data on speed limts in different roads. I don't think this is available as a seperate download for the MG4 though, and is just included in the map data.

Wasn't sure where to put the VN.txt file (so just put the file in each folder as well as the root drive).

Oddly, you can't upgrade software until car is at 14% SoC or higher. I wonder why they chose 14% and not 15%. It also appears you can't update software whilst the car is charging either.
