I want to get a UK MG4 owners-only snapshot of overall satisfaction with MG, based on the whole experience:
  • The car itself (build quality, reliability, software and updates) - largely SAIC (China)
  • MG UK (customer support, parts and warranty handling where applicable)
  • Your dealer(s) (sales experience, delivery issues, service department, warranty work and communication)
Please vote for the ONE option that best reflects your overall experience so far.

How to choose an option:
  • Very satisfied / Satisfied: You would happily buy MG again based on your experience
  • Neutral: Some positives and negatives, but it averages out
  • Dissatisfied / Very dissatisfied: Issues or poor support have left you unhappy with the brand
If you want to add context, please reply with:
  • Model year and trim
  • Rough mileage
  • Main issues (if any)
  • Whether problems were resolved and by who (SAIC/software, MG UK, or dealer)
This is not about one-off niggles - it’s about overall brand satisfaction based on the combined ownership and support experience.

I've selected the Very Satisfied option, as my actual experience lies between the first two options. I have had minor issues, but I've also had great support (from the dealer - I've never had to interact directly with MG). :)

Voted neutral - SE SR 72 reg with 70,000 miles.

Car itself great and holding up well. Dealers absolutely abysmal - tell lies, don't do what they should when it is serviced so the less I have to interact with them the better. Fortunately with mine not having any issues I don't have to use them.

My experience so far (One year of ownership):
  • Dealer #1 (where I bought the car) was great. They also helped me when my heat pump control module broke and others weren't able to fix it (250km+ away).
  • Dealer #2: Trash! Had a broken tmps sensor and they couldn't fix it over the timeline of 3 months because they couldn't tell the difference between rear left and rear right. Communication was horrible. They sometimes even forgot to enter my appointments into the system.. And they wanted to tell me that the sensor was not covered under warranty as the car was not on the factory tires anymore
  • Dealer #3: Refused to help me at all with the tpms and didn't even want to give me an appointment for service
  • Dealer #4: At least was able to troubleshot and fix the correct tmps sensor (under warranty) and perform the 2nd service - the price was way to high (521€ - 140 of which just for the air filter that is like 15€ on the internet). The quality of work was also not great (brake fluid spilled across the "engine bay" and my frunks screws were all completely massacred:

In December my heater stopped working and I went back to dealer #4. They couldn't find the issue (it was in the DTC cache - I was able to find it after just 5 Minutes of playing around with VDS with no prior experience). They lied to me about the contact with MG and the loaner program - quote "Thats the way it is when when you drive such a [chinese] car. There is no support you can call or anyone at all". They even stopped calling me back at all at some point and threatened me with expensive bills for a warranty issue. After over 7 weeks of driving with no heater at all in December and not getting contacted back at some point I went back. to dealer #1 which could fix the issue very fast and even provided me a loaner MG3 mt for free. I contacted MG about this and the dealer played somewhat surprised to them- quote. "You are very important as customer to us [dealer #4] and if you STILL have an issue please contact us immediately". I admit, I was a bit pissed when receiving that answer from MG. No "Sorry we messed up" or anything from the responsible dealer..

So verdict: Very mixed experience with MG dealers. From what I know from the German forum and a couple of friends there are only 2 types of MG dealers in Germany - they either suck or are great.. Just gotta find one of the 2nd kind. I now have a new dealer in town and I hope they are as good as #1.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is an MG exclusive problem (Mercedes was on the same level). Just find a decent dealer and stick with what ever brand they have.

I like the car though
