MG4 VS MGZS EV

If your usage is so low and charging at home it does not really matter which charge plug you have. The reason these models are cheap now is their short range, but that fits your needs. You can use a granny charger at home and you have a very cheap transport option. This is a very cost effective way to get an EV.
With a bit of planning, one of these can still do a longer journey but if that was needed often then it's time to upgrade. By then a new crop of improved, and better priced, cars will be on the market.

Over here the only common older model is the Leaf, thus used it as an example.
Yes thank you .I have considered the Leaf but given its charger I would opt for an e plus as that would give me more leeway for the very odd occasion I travel further than I normally do. Looking tab the ev database the 44 kWh leaf would give me in a worst case scenario 100 mile on the motorway in the winter whereas the e plus that potentially goes up to 150 miles. Other cheap options I have considered are the Renault Zoe 50 and the Vauxhall eCorsa. Then I think about the mileage not because off the battery per se but other components that are subject to wear and tear or simple malfunction and can be expensive to replace. I have in mind about 50 k as a maximum mileage

Next door neighbour came home with a 2022 MG ZS a couple of days ago and yesterday we compared his to my MG4.
There wasn't a lot of difference in them.

Lane assist was bad last year but an update controlled it although my wife always turns it off when she gets in the car because of beeping but it doesn't bother me.

Well as I own a 2025 ZS EV that has a 5 month warranty issue with the T box & has sat atr EMG Ipswich for 7 weeks with no luck so far, but I have an MG4 as a loaner.

You can turn all those beeps off on the ZS & they don't come back. It seems to me a better car as I can't stand the pre drive checks to shut down the the bleeps & that dangerous lane assist.

But you don't get one pedal driving on the ZS

So does the MG ZS have NCAP approval?
I thought that part of the deal was they come back on when you turn on again?

I understood it was NCAP 5 from memory & according to auto express

I believe some other marques like Ranault have a button to switch off the nanny state

As I've already stated, the ZS achieved 5 star NCAP rating based on the rules at that time. When the MG4 was released the rules had changed. :)

Any ZS EV with iSmart compatibility should be able to do it, but not the earlier ones. :)

AI says yes, I'll tell him

The 2022 MG ZS EV (facelift model) features the MG iSMART connectivity system as standard, allowing users to control vehicle functions via a smartphone app.

I then put 2021 in and it said no.
