They need to squeeze down that pricing to £39,995 or sales are going to be poor. No one wants to be on the hook for that ludicrous tax burden.

I think people are happy to pay the luxury car tax for a perceived "luxury car" of which MG clearly isn't no matter their aspirations.

I know it's a different segment of car but I'd rather buy the standard range IM5 which has every bit of kit imaginable and is below the £40k tax band.

I actually think that is an own goal by MG because I don't think there is any competition between the IM 5 and the S6 even just in looks.

Did you mean the IM6? The IM5 is a saloon car, so not really comparable like for like.

Personally I don't like the look of the IM5, IM6, MGS5, or MGS6. They all look like dull, generic blobs!

The only real looker MG have at all now is the Cyberster.

Nope as I said above I know it's a different segment car, I was merely comparing the IM5 standard range, which is under the £40k luxury car tax to the trophy S6 which is above it

Agreed ms5/6 are no lookers. I hope the uk mg 4 doesnt follow the blob blandness and retains its sharper looks

Might have been true with ice cars, they have more EV experience than MG, the Zoe has been around for years.
And MG isn't a beacon of reliability and aftersales, they came bottom of the What Car survey for a reason.

Relative has a Mégane and it has been fault free for 3 years, OTA updates working without issue, including motor updates, safety systems that work without issue but can be disabled with a physical button and android automotive as it's operating system.

Wish the wife's MG4 could tick all the above or any off them

The Scenic is a handsome car too, MG could take some lessons from that type of styling, rather than the curvy generic blob route they're on now.

A lot of Chinese cars have a generic look, the new Geely could be an S5/6.

I actually prefer the S5 to the S6 I think the dimensions suit the design/look better.

The same with the IM5 over the 6, not a fan of the IM6 looks far too bloated.
