I charged my car on Sunday to a full charge from 5 miles left on battery, this is the total electric used which includes all my domestic appliances for the full day, I'm quite happy with this and I don't feel the need to go searching arround for a cheaper tariff.

Think they are all, Much of a Muchness.
Don't see the point in constantly changing energy companies. (Which some do)
Just to save, 10p. Ok slight exaggeration,
but not far off. 🙂👍

I am on eon Next Drive - saves me 21p per kWh between midnight and 7AM - if my car is 0 miles left electric that is 25 (kWh) X £.21 = =£5.25 per full charge - defo worth the hassle for me if I fully charge 10 times a month thats £52.50 saved on electric charging alone - let alone the saving on my dishwasher and washing machine which I schedule to start at midnight or just after - I'm defo a MoneySavingExpert follower and try to save whatever I can, was defo worth it for a few hours of Googling, and creating spreadsheets.

Are you sure it is 21p per KWh, it seems a lot for overnight. My Octopus tariff is 7p per KWh.

And for the OP, it's well worth changing tariff, I only charge once a week but two thirds of my monthly electricity is at the 7p rate.

Has your standing charge not doubled?.
not sure I was on a fixed tariff which was expiring so didn't specifically look at the standing charges as I assume a current EV tariff and a normal tariff should still be the same standing charge, just different per unit rates ? as a good proportion (50%?) of my electricity usage is on the overnight rate I mainly focused on that ?

This is my tariff with Octopus.

I’ve been filling up my Vtoman power bank each night to cover cooking etc through the day. I’m finding it so helpful that I’m chasing a price for a house battery, possibly a Tesla 3 unit. I might add some ground mounted panels along a south facing fence.

This was my calc now i'm on EON Next Drive V10. so the prices at top are the price cap prices. then middle area are the EON Next Drive V10 rates - then the OVO ones at the bottom are the ones I was on on my old fixed OVO tariff which expired early August. So this is showing a large increae in the Std Charge for Gas mine has roughly tripled based in old rate to new rates and are within 10% of the price cap for std charge.
On electric the std charge is around 20% higher than my old rate, and about 13% higher than the price cap stdchg. Hoping the Off peak electric for charging car and doing dish washer / washing machine etc. makes it worthwhile.

Must admit wish everyone would completely scrap standing charges and just build it into the unit rate - much simpler to compare and see what is happening !! but then they cannot bamboozle you with numbers as much so you end up getting onto expensive rates !!

My standard charges on Octopus intelligent go are:

Elec - 49.54p
Gas - 27.47p

Those new rates on Eon seem high.

Well if youre happy thats the main thing, me personally, I'd have got the same energy £5.84 less at £1.38 but each to their own.

Is everybody here quoting the rates including 5% VAT or the net rates the suppliers advertise?

got a £75 incentive to switch ex the ohme home pro OVO anytime nightmare, so figured best to go over before 1st August and get the £75 off - time will tewll with how good or bad a decision it was.
