I'm rustling up a shortlist now, with 6 months to go.
I have not forgotten this thread:
As we are now into the last year of our lease, I am looking at what to get next.
It has to be easier to get into and out of, have a much bigger boot and preferably, a little extra width in the back to carry 3 more comfortably.
Mrs Secure is not so anti EV as she was, as long as she can get at least 300 miles in the next car (bearing in mind the lowest we get in the MG4 is 200) and we can charge quicker than our usual 50 minutes or so from 10-90.
But I'm still running a list of potential hybrids, just in case.
The current shortlist of EVs are:
Skoda Enyaq 82: big on space.
Nissan...
and have made changes based on stuff I've been reading. I know, it's a dangerous pastime...
Apparently, Hyundai/ Kia EVs are a top pick favoured by thieves.
That puts me off those straight away.
That currently leaves 2 options, one EV and one hybrid, as Mrs S may still jump the electric ship...
In the leccy corner is Enyaq.
Opposite is the HS Hybrid+.
Putting me off the Enyaq big time are the many stories on Skoda fora about 12V battery charging problems and the abject failure of the dealer network to sort it out.
Also, people say it can't do the remote warm up procedure when it's cold.
Let me explain why I landed on these two as an upgrade to the MG4:
I now need a car that's easier to get into for me. We need a
much bigger boot! We also need to carry 4 and sometimes 5 in less of a squeeze as we take parents on days out, and weekends away. Locally and long distance. And to tempt Mrs S away from Hybrid, an EV needs 300+ mile range.
Also, less thumpy suspension is required!
Maybe it's just my life-worn skellington...
Also, despite speaking French fluently and having lived in the country, Mrs S does not want a French car...sorry Archev!
(Gallic shrug).
The funny thing is, we have both owned Citroens! Me a BX 19RD hatch and Xantia TD estate and Mrs S a petrol Xantia hatch.
