I have owned both Gen1 and Gen 2 models of the ZS EV before going for the S5.
We bought the car right at the end of August, so the weather was pretty mild ( ish ).
I did find back then, that the S5 appeared to be wanting charging less frequently than our previous ZS EV Gen2 did.
Of course now the weather has turned much colder, it’s a different story of course.
We like the cabin space to feel both comfortable, welcoming and a warm space.
We have the climate control set to 24 and we do use the heated seats

first thing, when it is really cold.
They are an absolutely brilliant and very welcomed in the winter.
Does the range get a bashing as a result ?.
Yes absolutely it does, but I really don’t care tbh.
Sorry, but I am not willing to compromise any comforts, in exchange for the extra range it returns, but to be cold when driving.
I will just charge more often if necessary.
Many people make the mistake of, when selecting an EV - they base their chose on a summer time usage pattern, or wild WLTP figures.
This never worked on ICE cars, when it came to MPG estimates, so why should EV’s be any different ?.
Select an EV that will satisfy your winter usage pattern with ease.
Then in the summer, you will think the GOM is never reducing

.
EV cabin heaters are generally extremely good, at eating up the range real fast.
They pull a lot of juice, I think it’s almost 7 kw’s !.
Sorry, back to the question:-
Does the S5 eat up the range faster than the ZS EV did ?.
Honest answer, I really don’t see it being any better, or worse than the S5 in winter conditions tbh.
Would I go back to my ZS if it was slightly more efficient in the colder weather ?.
Short answer - NO !,
