Since purchasing my PHEV in July 2025, I have been using the Carscanner Pro app with an OBDLink MX+ dongle and have been satisfied so far because Carscanner displays a lot of information about the car: actual SOC, SOH, fuel level, RPM, engine temperature and much more.
However, I had a problem from the start: when the app was active and I locked the car, the alarm system went off shortly afterwards. I was able to get around this by closing the app before locking the car.
Last week, I had an update to version R61 done at the garage. Now, when the app is active, the windows no longer work. At first, I thought something had gone wrong during the vehicle update. But then I read in another MG forum that the problem had also occurred in other MG vehicles when Carscanner was active.
At first, I couldn't believe it. But then I tried it several times and sure enough, as soon as the app connects to the OBD dongle, the window regulators fail. Closing the app doesn't help either. You have to close the app or disconnect it from the dongle, lock the car (the mirrors no longer fold in either) and wait a few minutes. When you unlock the car again, everything is fine.
I couldn't believe it, but I tried it several times, and as soon as Carscanner connects to the OBD dongle, the window regulators stop working.
I have absolutely no idea why this is the case.
It's a shame, as I've been using the app constantly for months.
