I have one of the first, SMETS1, smart meters fitted by BGas years ago when they first rolled out, which went dumb the first time I changed suppliers. It still reads my usage etc. on the monitor but the costs are still calculated on the last time it was live so a bit out. It's handy for telling me when my charge has finished and gone to equalisation mode though. My experience of smart meters and the in home display so far is they’re very hit and miss. mine has not worked as much time as it has. Octopus can be slow to respond too. Advertising says it’s a great way to keep on top of your costs using the home display!
