Octopus Go Intelligent new 6 hours charging limit

I figure an extra £8.50 on top of the smart charge for the 100% equalisation charge very quarter.
I think it added around £5-6 to my last one on my Trophy, but I did do that with smart charge turned off to ensure it was one continuous charge with no breaks. Not really an issue cost wise as it is so infrequent.

I contacted Octopus regarding the solar conflict with charging time and got thei respose

"Hi there,

I would advise to manually set the charging on the solar to the guaranteed off peak time of 11:30pm-5:30am.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Apparently, I need to charge off the solar . . . . wait for it . . .

At night

I emailed them over a year ago about abuse loopholes in IO Go and got an equally silly answer!

Fortunately, I have access to those who know.

Unfortunately, the quality of recruits today is dire. We are overrun with armchair experts on social media criticizing those who do whilst doing nowt themselves other than take. Employing them in desperation is a minefield of hope and hopelessness.

Cherry thought of the day😁

Yesterday I had a similarly nonsensical answer. I mentioned problem where the chaotic schedules seem to cause the MG4 to abort the charge if the session stops and starts to many times. Their suggestion was to make sure the Zappi was on ECO+ to optimise the use of green energy. As ECO+ is specifically set up to allow you to select how much grid power to add to your solar to avoid the charge pausing if the solar excess output drops below 1.4kW.

I've never had this happen in 8 months with the Hypervolt, is this a common issue for people?

I've had some sessions with a very large number of slots, and it's never caused the car an issue.
It may be an issue with a 1st gen car software issue in combination with the Zappi. Ill mention it at the next service until then I'll just turn off smart charge for the MG and use it on the Niro.

quoted as midday to midday by Phil Steele on X, not been on that for months!

Just chatting with Phil Steele now and solar / battery set ups are an issue.

Maybe allowing an add 0% by time would work instead of switching off smart charging.

"Obviously don't want to bill the car charging when there's a mix of solar. I need to check if we've got that case covered"
Another scenario for Phil to consider.
I plug my car in at 9:00pm, and set the Zappi ECO to ensure the charge is not interrupted by the chaotic slots that seem to be set up currently. I ask smart charge for 40% by 8am. It schedules half a dozen slots between 2am and 6am, but does a quick 15 minute charge as it creates the schedule then goes back to ECO i.e. 1.4kW at peak price until 23:30. By around 5:30 it has completed the smart charge so reverts to ECO again at 1.4kW until 7:00 when I check the car and unplug. So at this point I've been charging for 10 hours, around 4 hours smart charge, 2.5 hours at 1.4 on off peak and around 4 hours at peak rate.

I'm guessing that is just an issue if you don't have battery storage and a cloud comes over and panels make less than 1.4kW of power. Otherwise, surely your batteries will just fill in for the clouds and continue to charge the EV?

Correct, in the new year I want to investigate what AC coupled options there are, I'm still on FiT so don't want to disrupt it too much. In the summer the grid top up is negligible and I can max out 3.7kW. Winter I just charge overnight and even that is less than £20 a month for around 1000 miles in 2 EVs so spending a significant amount on batteries needs some justification.
