Hello. I'm in the process of setting up my "charging infrastructure" (car hasn't arrived yet).

I want to have a charger with dynamic load balance (by internet) but I don't currently have connection (4g nor internet) on my charging area.
Some previous MG models had an issue when charging with powerline. I searched the forums and found no reports for MGS5.

Is there anyone having issues with MGS5 (11kw obc in my case) models charging with powerline in the network?

But are there any reports of powerline interference with Mgs5 charging? Or you are just suggesting for reliability purposes?

If there is no signal down there, you need a hard wire to the charger and/or have our car up top on a lead.

If you haven't already laid in power for your charger it would be simply enough to run an Ethernet cable at the same time. If you really want to go down the Powerline route for internet connectivity it may well be problematic if the runs are long and/or the infrastructure is shared.

Exactly what I want to do, but laws (and being shared location) in my country that do not allow me to do this easily.

just wanted to know if having a powerline downthere, even if I don't have load balance, will impact charging like it did on some previous models.

Just had the installation team come by today. Unfortunately I cannot run a new cable. They are saying that it might not even be possible to replace the current 4mm to a 6mm.

Would appreciate if anyone could give an input if your mgs5 charging works as normal with powerline on the network.

Not sure if it would help in your situation but... I had a weak wifi signal near my charger and tried a wifi range extender. Very cheap, you just plug it into a spare wall socket, and it worked fine for my problem. It might be worth trying this idea, placing the extender as near as possible (where it still gets a signal) to the charge point and see if that works. If you buy from Amazon and it doesn't work you can easily return it.

I use powerline adapters a lot in the house, and they work very well. However, this is with all units on the same consumer unit. Without knowing the way that your power is set up, it's impossible to say whether they would work in your particular situation. Is it not possible to set up a test environment?

In my opinion interference might be a problem if you used the iSmart app or the settings in the car to control the charging times.

Why exactly?

FWIW, we use powerline adapters for comms to and from our solar equipment over 30m distance. Have not had any interference on the powerline data when EV is charging.
