Managed to get it to 100% Thank you we just took it down and left it on for a number of hours went back and it was full Although not quite as the dealer sold 279 , it was 250 ? I am getting there. Learning as I go also discovered things like on the fast charge it slows right down it says it will be at 100% in say like 30 mins and 1 hour later you are still sitting at 93 , it’s all a bit confusing, I’m guessing you really want to keep it between the 20 - 80 % range , I’m just a bit wary as I don’t have a charger at home and often you can’t get on the public ones , just trail and error I guess , on the plus side I have met and spoken to some lovely people while charging , also came across very rude people who were on the charger for 10 hours or more I’m thinking this is totally unnecessary on a fast charger Also couldnt get on to charge as there was a big diesel pick up abandoned in the EV charging space and my cable wouldn’t reach to the bay behind ?How have you gotten on today?
Thank you so much that’s so so helpfulAvoid 22kW AC chargers, there's no advantage over a 7kW using them on the ZS. Unless they are free you're paying extra for a charging speed you cannot attain.
Use a 7kW one to see if that improves the speed, if that doesn't work, try another cable.
Sorry I wasn’t well & I hadn’t been online , but I’m getting there , thank you again for all your help and supportPoor old Claire is still sitting on the public charging post - Bless !.
Likely to be report back in the morning @Ayoull I would expect.
Hopefully we have some positive results !.
The discrepancy in range is based on how the cars cumulative mi/kWh is reading out so people call it a guess-o-meter but it is actually giving you anread.out based on historic info it has and how you're driving at that moment I'm time, petrol and diesel cars are the same but people don't pay as much attention to the range in these.Managed to get it to 100% Thank you we just took it down and left it on for a number of hours went back and it was full Although not quite as the dealer sold 279 , it was 250 ? Glad to hear you are feeling better now Claire.I am getting there. Learning as I go also discovered things like on the fast charge it slows right down it says it will be at 100% in say like 30 mins and 1 hour later you are still sitting at 93 , it’s all a bit confusing

To get around your problem you had With the charger being blocked I got an 8M long lead it's heavier but I can park two spaces away and still plug in it needed, just some funny looks if the other spaces are free when I get back and look like a mad man parked a few spaces away
I have done my charge to full in a quite wee village where nobody is waiting to get on and its a 7kw one ,most people who want to use the fast charger about an mile away so I’m ok at the moment , does the car just do this itself , or should I be doing anything , I have just been unplugging once it’s full ?, Thank you again for taking the time to help me I really do appreciate everyone’s helpGlad to hear you are feeling better now Claire.
Glad to here you where able to pick up a decent charge at the public 7 Kw charging post.
The charger slowing down as the battery reaches almost full, is completely normal.
It happens on the 7 Kw public chargers and on home wall boxes as well.
When using the much large Rapid chargers, the reduction in charging speed is very easy to notice as the battery gets full.
You will sometimes hear it referred to by EV users using a rapid, as the charger is now “Throttling Back”.
Without going into too much detail, rapid chargers follow a charging curve which starts slowly, but then increases massively.
Then throttles back much latter in the charge cycle.
Most people covering big distances who use rapid charging, will stop charging at around 80% and be on their way, as soon as the charging speed starts to drop away.
On the 7 Kw public chargers ( like you are using ) or a home wall box will automatically drop back on the speed of charge ( which you have witnessed ) at around the mid 90’s percent and continue to slowly reduce even further.
When the battery reaches 100% the car will then commence a “Battery Balance” cycle.
It takes in a very small amount of energy and the car will then help balance out any differences in the small cells.
Normally you would not carry out a balance cycle on a public post, as people who are waiting to use the post, can become a little agitated ? let’s just say !.
If you are charging overnight in a secure environment and nobody is likely to be wanting to use the charger, then don’t worry.
Leave the car plugged in and it will automatically turn off the post when it has finished.
I hope this makes some sense Claire ?.
The Battery Management System (BMS) takes care of everything for you. The heater blowing cool usually happens if the drive mode is in ECO. I usually heat up the cabin with Normal mode and switch to ECO to maintain the temp.I have done my charge to full in a quite wee village where nobody is waiting to get on and its a 7kw one ,most people who want to use the fast charger about an mile away so I’m ok at the moment , does the car just do this itself , or should I be doing anything , I have just been unplugging once it’s full ?, Thank you again for taking the time to help me I really do appreciate everyone’s help
