Questions about buying a used MG4 SE

(UK) I'm looking at buying a used SE 51kw and trying to figure out what differences there are in different aged cars to decide whether to get a 73/24 plate or an older one. I'm interested in one pedal drive.

1) Seems the major update is around 73 plate. Assuming I don't care about wipers or headrests, is OPD the main functional difference here?

2) Can older phase 1 models get OPD as a software update or not?

3) Does the car remember settings like OPD, LKA? I've seen comments that various things get forgotten between drives.

4) I saw somewhere that SE can now come with a rear camera? Is this true and when did this start? The 73 plate I test drove just had rear sensors.

5) Do the older "phase 1" models still get software updates?

6) Any other reason to go for or against "phase 1" models?

I have a mega first off the boat phase 1 - tinted rear windows.

Software updates yes BUT they are applied with dealer tools and software - you’ll be lucky to get many anyway if things work unless you buy the tools.

OPD is not on phase 1 and apparently never will be. Can’t really see it other than novelty and won’t work with a fully charged battery anyway.

Early cars had some issues, leaky gearbox, leaks in the boot and noisy air con. There were some that had odd power issues BUT think many were solved with software. I believe the battery is slightly different on the newer ones too.

In general I’m happy with mine but the rear camera on later ones would be a big draw if I had the choice. On the whole - not bad cars per se imho. As with any model, later ones are generally better where they fixed teething issues. The wheels on later ones look better to me but the rear wiper and 3rd head rest yuk.

OPD is awesome, use it most if the time.

To the forum. OPD is great imo. Rear wiper is a good thing to have. Third rear headrest not so good, think most folk remove it, so you can see out the back window. Doesn't remember OPD, LKA etc.
Me personally would go for the newest one you can afford.

What's a typical "actual" range for a standard range model say in winter/summer? Is it doing close to 200 miles on a motorway? Mostly driving will be a commute but probably a few times a year will go long distance.

You'll be unlikely to get anywhere near 200 miles on a motorway (if you're doing 70) ... even in summer. Work on the basis of 180 miles max in summer, 140 miles max in winter.

Given my bladder range, I'd be stopping for a comfort break after about 100 miles anyway, so I'd plug in to a DC rapid whilst doing so. Thus actual range is somewhat immaterial.
