Radio Module Disconnected!

The message 'Radio Module Disconnected' appeared a couple of days ago and I am now unable to change the radio channel at all - stuck with Greatest Hits radio.
Have looked through the manuals and there appears to be nothing about this problem.
Have done a reset and nothing has changed other than the loss of all saved stations etc as expected.
Has anyone come across this problem before?
Does it mean a frustarting trip to my dealer!

Well, after some further research the answer seems to be to disconnect the 12v battery, wait and reconnect.
All now working although saved programmes had to be re-saved.

You can also reset your infotainment screen, if you hold the home button for more then 15 seconds it will first show a clock and after that it will reset...i have to do this sometimes when it doesnot function as it should.

I've managed to fix my issue 'Radio Module Initialising', hopefully this may help you.

I tried removing the 12v battery terminal for 30minutes but didn't resolve the issue, unplugged the cables from the controller box(or whatever it is called) for 30 minutes didn't resolve the issue.

Updated firmware using the files from the link below and all back up and working again

Mayby beacause my radio is blocked 'radio module installation error' it didnt works?? I tried tomorrow first the 12 v batt negative loosse.. en than i tried the update again. Thank you for al your support ? Mine was in this situation / and after i updated worked again .

Thank you for this it’s happened twice over weekend of bank holiday. Not good no music when going to Elam dam.

It only stops the radio from working, you can still use a USB stick or Bluetooth

I have the same issue with a brand new MG ZS. Only after one week it appeared.
During this week I switshed audio between DAB radio, FM radio and Apple CarPlay Music pretty often.

Thought is has been the reason. I'll try the 15sec Home button reset option first ... and hope it works.

I've had this fault many times. Each time it's "fixed" under warranty, including new unit, new cables etc . After a few weeks, it goes again! Once the screen shows that message of the module disconnect, the battery is draining. If you're not running the car or plugging it in to charge, the car battery will drain in a few days, leaving you stranded with no electrics. Can't open door. Cannot do anything! Nightmare. MG don't seem to have a solution. Just repeating the "fix". Like a plaster on a broken leg... Useless.

I have the same issue but they change a 'USB cable' last time and seems ok at the moment.
What have they said they have changed on yours?
I have just bought another MG5 LR 2022, so my wife now has the SR, this has the same issue at the moment and so far they have only tried a software update but it is booked in to be looked at again.

I have been charged for this repair by the dealer in Salisbury, in September. They say that it is not covered by the Warranty after three years. Anyone else been charged?

I have had this on both my MG5 SR and LR.
SR after 18 months old and I think has been sorted.
LR I bought at 2.5 years old and went faulty after a month so again was just inside 3 years. It went again two weeks ago now over 3 years old so waiting for next step from MG.
What did they do to your MG5?

Hi Jomarkh, so.... this error has occurred frequently since new, 2021. If you don't get it fixed it will drain the 12v battery completely. After three years my car was on it's 4th battery: one casualty was a Bosch gel battery with 5 year warranty. I have switched dealer this year, the Southampton dealer had repaired it four times. The Salisbury franchise once, so far. Both of them explain that the infotainment system needs a software update. I think that this is rubbish. I suspect that just disconnecting the 12v will do it?

Yeah, I know it drains the 12v but only had to use my boost pack once.
I have had some updates, the module sent to MG for a week and a USB loom.
