Real battery capacity

I am selling my 2021 Renault Zoe. It has a Total Battery Capacity of 54.7 kWh and a Usable Battery Capacity of 41.0 kWh.
This means that I can always charge it up to 100% (41.0 kWh) as there is an overhead and it never goes to the real 100%. There is no need to limit the charging to 80%.

My MG ZS Trophy Long Range, Black Pearl, is arriving in around 3 weeks (they promise).

All I see is that the battery capacity is 72.6 kWh. Is this the real, 100% capacity or is there a buffer above this.

rbpasapera says that actually 72.6 kWh is only arount 93% of the battery capacity.

Is this correct? Is 72.6 kWh a real 100% charge or not.

Think it's 68.2 (?) usable battery. Feel free to correct me if I'm out a bit

Is 41 a typo or you're doing something wrong or it's hideously degraded? According to ev database the zoe has 52 kWh useable. You can look up the MG on there too and the LR is 72.6 with 68.3 useable.
 
I think the reason they say 72 KWh, but 68 usable is partly because the car can dynamically add the last 4 KWh in the beginning as battery degradation seems a bit higher in the beginning.

This, to avoid people panicing over their car losing to much battery SOT in the beginning.

Also, the 4 KWh is partly used so that 0% is not "Battery is completely empty" as these batteries does not like to be fully discharged.

There was a version of the Zoe that was fitted with the larger battery, but limited to 41kWh. I didn't think it was released in the UK.

How strange and have to ask why? The only times I know of that there was such a discrepancy was with Tesla where you could then pay to unlock the bigger battery or the Audi e-tron that just has a large top buffer so rapid charges to "100%" really fast.
 
I don't understand why all manufacturers don't just quote the usable battery size instead of misleading us into thinking we have a bigger capacity.
ISTR some review of a Kia Soul or E-Nero where the reviewer said the battery size quoted was the usable capacity.

I've been trying to find a reference as to where I read that, without success. ISTR it was a minimal spec version for the European market.

Cirtainly happened with the tmS. They “downgraded” the 75kWh to 60kWh and sold them at a cheaper price. It was possible at a later date to pay Telsa loads of money for them to “turn on” the hidden kWh.
