Reporting charger issue: do Shell view EV drivers with contempt

We should not forget that the assistant in the petrol station/supermarket/other shop is not paid enough to care whether the equipment works and it's not really fair to expect them to.

After a bit of digging it appears the petrol station is often part of Shell's Retailer Programme where individuals can operate a fully operational Shell service station as self-employed retailers. These retailers earn commission on fuel sales and revenue from the retail store and car wash, but they don't pay a franchise fee.

The EV chargers are not included in the programme and are run by Shell Recharge

That explains the staff attitude then.

I should add I am not blaming the staff - they have crap job conditions - but the days of retailers taking a pride in product knowledge and training their people properly are mostly gone, there's some independents that still do that, but no longer likely at big names (unless you happen to find a product enthusiast who is self-taught).
