Having been forced to use public charging for the time being because of a faulty CCU a couple of things I have noticed...
If the charger is on the Electroverse network you can start and stop the charge from the app and it doesn't take a security deposit against your card.
If you have a credit/debit card in the google wallet app on your phone using the tap to pay facility on your phone will register on the card reader of the charger when a bank card won't. I guess it's the same with the Apple equivalent.
