Safe to leave plugged in after 100% is reached?

We are on an Octopus EV rate of 4 early hours for 8.5p per unit. To get up to 100% overnight for a long trip we'll need to do it in 2 goes; will the charging on the 2nd go stop at 100% without the need to monitor and stop it in the early hours?
Will the 7kW box shut itself off?

Didn't know there was a settable charge limit! I need to suss that out.

Assuming you are on Octopus go which changed to 5 hrs from 00.30 to 5.30 on the 1st of July. Do check website or contact them if in doubt.

Sorry, I see its a LR so you should be able to set the charge limit in the car or app

I use the app that comes with my 7kW box and set it to charge for the cheap rate overnight, I then set the car limit to 90 percent.

Scrolled through the owner's manual but couldn't how to set the car limit on our MG4 LR.

I was actually going to start a thread on this. I've seen some advice that EV owners should leave the cars plugged in all the time, at least in cold weather, so they can heat the battery from the mains if they want to. I'm not sure whether this applies to all cars or just Teslas though.

I've also seen people say that the 12V won't be charged while the car is plugged in, because when it's plugged in the HV battery is isolated. So leaving the car plugged in risks a flat 12V.

Who is right?

@Coulomb posted that the 12V battery is not actively charged ( my words) when the car is plugged in but not charging. The HV battery is not isolated (my error originally corrected by @Kithmo). So the 12V charging is then reliant on the car monitoring the state of charge and topping it up as it would do for a car left locked.

For Trophy at least, the charge limit can be set from the iSmart app in 10% increments.
Tap on the battery on the front screen, then on the hexagon at top right of the battery screen.

Don't think the Ismart is available for the Long Range

As you have an NMC battery, you should be able to set the limit via the battery tile on the infotainment home screen. Tapping this tile gives access to all the battery info. A slider control below the car image changes the setting.

With the iSmart app tapping the battery info tile gives you the battery status page and in the top right corner is the cog that gives access to the settings. A 'rollable' control allows the limit to be changed

Many thanks for your assistance. I had been under the impression that the MG app wasn't available on the LG. After a lot of faff, mystified by the app wanting me to scan a QR code, where?) whilst stumbling about blindly in the infortainnent options I found the word "bind" and the illusive QR.
Found the charging limit which I've left at 100 for the moment as our next charge will likely be before we set off on the 168 or 190 mile drive to the ferry.
Pondering if it's worth the extra 22 miles to save 8 minutes!

Charge to 100%, absolutely if you're on a time critical journey, the less you leave to chance the better / less stress.

We are on Octopus with a Wallbox charger and the cheap rate is from 11.30pm till 5.30am which is more than enough time to charge a ZS to 100% and the rate is currently 7p per unit.

Ismart is available for all MG4's and also other models of MG.
