Update: I reported this to the dealer and they have sent an appointment to have a look at the last software update. In my opinion this triggered the behavior.
I have had to drive a complete week without the Infotainment screen. Disconnecting and reconnecting the 12V battery doesn't yield a result.
On 20th July, MG released a new iSmart update with refresh UI. Since that update, the Infotainment screen lit on it's own the first time I got in the car and ran the diagnostics from the iSmart app. Stayed on even through parking the car and moving until, I used the reverse, then it went black again. I noticed the iSmart would run the diagnostics (freezes), not sure their is a relationship. Anyway, this continued for the rest of the day
This morning 21st July, the screen lights up normally with the boot process.
Since the iSmart App update, the screen has randomly lit up more time than before the iSmart App update. Nothing else was done to result in the change.
Although my MCU version is R38. I believe there may be several R38.xx. I am hoping the dealer rolls back the Infotainment software to the earlier R38.
@elenc was this your experience?
