SE retro fitted reversing cam

A friend has had a reversing cam retro fitted to his 2023 mg4 SE and has the MPU & MCU software versions as above.

He wants me to update his infotainment for him which i have done to my trophy.

So if i am reading this right, the se software supports the reversing camera even though it is not fitted with it as standard.

If it's a 3rd party cam then it simply utilises the Info screen - essentially hijacks the screen. (As far as I know - I don't have one on my 2022 SE SR). Later versions of the SE (e.g. those sold in Australia) come with a reversing camera as standard.

Is it actually a camera, that works natively with the infotainment ? As far as im aware, all solutions currently hijack infotainments display LVDS to show camera and then reverts back to MPU when you go foward.

Yes, if you get an appropriate unit then it is essentially plug and play on an SE.

It looks for a camera and if there isn't one it just shows a picture and does the beeps.

I got a professional to do it for me because it involved tools I didn't have, taking areas of the car apart to feed the cables, and so on.

You get a box with it that goes somewhere behind the glove box (I think), which is also where the fuses etc. are.

The unit came with instructions but I don't have them to hand.

Based on the title alone it seems that this person has made a video of it...
