Due to take delivery of a new MG4 X power but it has a fault even before we can collect it, is this a sign of things to come?

New car has apparently had the CCU damaged by a the dealers faulty charger during PDI, collection has been pushed back (allthough in fairness supplier is looking to replace the vehicle with same model / colour if possible.
Are these cars really so sensitive?, I believe the charger cut out and the CCU has locked out and wont reset, just worried we may have made a poor choice, what's the view please?

S'pose shit happens, as they say. Obviously unfortunate, but wouldn't worry to much. If they've offered to get you a new replacement, fair enough. But I'd wait for the colour you wanted in the first place. Might be a bit of a delay, hopefully not to much. But when you do get it, you'll love it. Had mine 13 months now, and has been faultless. Although others haven't been so lucky. Which is the same with any manufacturer. What colour did you go for?

Oh and.

Thank you,
Its the wife's motor and she chose the green ( the replacement offered will also be green but poss delayed by a few days so not a major issue), I fully understand the poo happens and I'm happy to go with the flow but the other party's not happy so just checking I'm not going to develop earache with this purchase.
I have to say the support and communication seems good so far given MG's reputation, lets see, I might even get to drive it :)

As above, had my X Power for 12 months and zero issues, it is a fantastic car.
Sounds like a faulty part at manufacture, these things happen.
My worry is that it wasn't at manufacture issue, dealer admits they have had some issues with their chargers and need to get them fixed, seems their charger 'tripped' and locked up the car CCU which seems a bit fragile to me, these things should be engineered to accept external spikes, hope its just a one off.

My XPower was delivered (in Nov 2023) with a non working front passenger window, went back to the supplier they fixed a connector in the door and it has been fine ever since. Considering the journey the cars have there is always the possibility of in transit damage happening.

I wonder if I pay cash I will get a Friday car as I will have less recourse than a leased/financed one?
EDIT - Gary didn't read properly what you put, but leaving it up lol.

You're more likely to get one that's been sitting in a field or a forecourt. Not sure if it's more chance of being a lemon, but more chance of it not being a recently manufactured car. Although, if you are leasing then that's why you are finding the good prices. No free lunch, cheap lease = can't get shut/

The essential keyring for all MG4 owners from what I've read :ROFLMAO:
This looks perfect and should be a standard BUT, what if I fix the keys to it, surely it will be lost in 5 minutes?

On the original note, the service team on this car are doing their best and are providing a choice of new (same spec) car or the original (repaired) car on collection day which seems fair.
I want to set them the challenge to confirm the car has the most up to date software installed before collection, is there anything else I should expect to have been done / checked before collection to minimise the possibility of a return visit in week 1?

Lease cars come from same place as dealer ones when ordered, MG UK compound at Port bury docks.
Mine was Shipped from there to Holdcroft MG stoke on trent to be PDA before delivery.
Ppl on here who purchased theirs around same time had same build dates, Salty to name but one.

Not necessarily as dealers buy cars in blocks and keep them for x time thinking they are likely to sell them, pretending to themselves all will be fine in the short term, before realising whoops, we bought too many. Hence why Richmonds in Portsmouth were selling Nov 2023 Orange MG4’s (like mine) brand new in April 2025 at bargain lease prices to get shut. Lease company said dealer had loads to get shut of, and used Lex to finance them.

You can buy a “factory order” but most of the leases (at the best prices) are likely to older stock to get rid of. If you go to a dealer and ask for a lease this would like be factory order, however most people don’t find leases this way, they use a third party not a dealer directly

I found it's more the chargers that are a bit precious at time. The one that held me up for an hr on Sunday was finally sorted by locking and unlocking the car back to back 5 times, while the charger was connected ..... and bingo away it went.
It has never failed to charge on the home charger or at any DC fast charger, but this is the first time I'd used a 7kw charger, got the brand new cable out of it's zip up bag, and near sent the support people made trying to get the charger to work, including rebooting 3 different machines (there were 8 at this charging station, all brand new) it was only an idea a young lass at the support team office suggested as it had worked for a different brand car the week before at a completely different location .....
