It is a Trophy (in the UK), but maybe we have been lucky, judging by other reactions. It certainly hauls *rse well above 80. Of course it doesn't go over 100 (in theory), but I've had the meter reading 167 km/h on a couple of occasions, which suggests the limiter is somewhat relaxed (or that the meter is somewhat relaxed, of course!)
However, the MG4 is a lovely car even at much lower speeds, and in-motion acceleration is exceptional from pretty much any speed.
Also, we've concluded range anxiety is deffo overstated – especially if, like us, you're not using the car every day. For lack of a 7.4 kW charger, we've been granny-charging the car since we bought it (with a couple of fast charges being the exception), and once you get used to treating it like a smartphone (i.e. topping up whenever convenient), it's brilliant.
Also, it appears granny-charging is a great deal better for the battery. We do recharge at 10 amps rather than 8, after taking advice from our electrician. He thinks the cable to the outdoor socket may even support 13 amps, so not far short of a 3.4 kW reinforced plug, but will be able to confirm that once he's looked at the wiring (he'll probably have to adjust the fuse, too). That would speed things up a little from their current snail's pace ;-)
If you're using the car for long-ish drives every day, of course, you'll undoubtedly want a Wallbox or equivalent.
