Software upgrades etc at dealer NOT purchased from

Hello all

I am picking up my trophy next week.

I wanted to email the dealer about a list of all the updates they should check and install prior to my collecting the vehicle.

Do I insist on R33 for the infotainment?
Any other tips?

Ah, the famous "Have you tried switching it off and on again" IT cure-all method ?

12v reboot appears to have worked disconnected battery for 10mins last night and this morning 3 journeys so far without having to repair the Bluetooth

Just comparing the scheduled maintenance sheets between UK and France. there are some small differences but the main one being the French one does give instructions to the workshop to upgrade the software to the latest version. No mention of special conditions , extra payment , etc.
I'll see what comes up tomorrow?

OK! tomorrow is now today, I went in with my pre-prepared lists and MG print outs and the service manager looked through them, pointy finger.... payant, payant, payant. So, I wanted r38 to hopefully help with a glitchy Android, which I'd listed, the Hvac module and Sc 077.
Opening his computer he said Sc077 , ok.
r38 payant
Hvac payant.
I made him read the list again plus the MG printouts with the terms and conditions , he responded with some well thumbed MG dealer bulletins , standoff , loaded printouts at dawn.
He said they would change the brake fluid and do the checks and it would be a couple of hours.
So I did some aimless window shopping , a quick look at a S5 in blue.... nice seats , and a lot of chundering about , guess what! then went back .
The car was ready , so I went to the desk, The 077 was done , brake fluid etc ,and he had had a change of mind and put the r38 through as a warranty item , updated the MG system and the extra years breakdown cover. Cost including VAT .....159 euros. S,pose I should not complain, but I did not get a quote for the Hvac update and apparently being out a few degrees is not regarded as warranty.
Without going in to detail the Sc077 is as everyone else describes it , so a vast improvement, although after two years of Towing Mode silence that bonging might get irritating. :cautious:

Has your temperature control range rescaled since R38? When I got R38 I also got the HVAC update, and on mine the scale adjusted by about 4°C (based on the centre point of the range).
Not sure , I just did the 25km back home and was more focused on the LKA. They said they didn't do the HVAC update so I just assumed it was as before. I will keep an eye on it in the coming days.

In my case I used to set the temperature target to 25°C ... post-update I've set it to 21°C and Auto HVAC control*, and I find that it works fine - I never feel the need to adjust anything.

* the car determines fan speed, vent direction and recirc/external air flow as needed.

Not sure if I'm imagining it, but yes , the temperatures do seem to be more responsive and accurate to inputs even though the workshop say they didn't update the module ?
As to the SC077 , yes its better now than before, but, and no-one has reported this before! The steering feels very slightly notchy , even when the LKA is in standby and not activating. Its as though some one else has a hand lightly on the steering wheel and is correcting your inputs . For the last two years I've had Towing Mode engaged and the steering was smooth and impeccable in all its various choices. Today : took the car out and kept swapping between LKA on, and Towing Mode and there is definitely a difference. I am on twisty hilly roads and was trying to keep away from the lines , but it was apparent even on the straight bits and very slightly weaving where LKA was engaged but was not activated. Country roads so ACC was turned off.

When I first got the car I mentioned the steering did not feel right, " Captain" said his was fine and I'd soon get used to it. I then found Towing Mode , which solved the " LKA problems of the day " and advocated its usage , and have used it ever since. The steering issue I thought was as explained by Captain, and I had got used to it and then was faultless. I had not linked it to any other system being in use because they were defaulted ...Off.
With the recent acquisition of SC007 and giving it a go, and purposely approaching / crossing lines to see what happens , and seeing if I could live with it has re introduced ( but a lot less so ) some of those original thoughts.
For LKA to work it must have a constant electrical influence on the electric motor on the steering rack just to be ready to react to the cameras and steering angle sensors ,indicators, should they dictate an intervention is necessary. If the electrical inputs were sudden , oh! boy would there be complaints. SC007 has modified and reduced those reactions but I think the LKA still needs to monitor the signals the rack motor receives and gives out and constantly modify them to a base level it can work from. Maybe that complete guess/ theory is what I am apparently detecting.🤷‍♂️
