Sun roof just shattered.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I parked the car at home and closed the drivers door and there was a smash and tinkle as the rear, non moving part of the roof shattered for no apparent reason. I had the roof open earlier and it closed with no issues.

Very odd.

Had a conservatory window randomly explode. The fitter that replaced it said it's caused by heat differentials in the frame and the glass. Seemed a logical explanation to me.

Will it be covered by your insurance in the same way that the other glass on the car is?
And without a ridiculous excess?
As I bet a replacement won't be cheap.

I phoned around for some quotes, £1,260 was the first to get back to me. Islington MG in Bath told me that because it needs to be bonded, they outsource them to National Windscreens. I've gone through the insurance, who also use National Windscreens. Just waiting for an appointment now.
