You beat me to my update!
They called yesterday to say that they'd managed to squeeze the car in and cleared all the vaults, all of which apart from one parking sensor, were to do with low voltage.
So I drove over there because I wanted my spare key programmed and they said they wanted to keep it over the weekend to make sure that it was okay and no other faults occurred, but I suggested that I took it for a drive, which I did and drove for about 25 minutes and it was fine.
There's no guarantee that that has solved it because of course the car did drive even when we managed to get it going on the day it broke down for about 20 minutes and then it died, so hopefully if it genuinely was about low voltage being recorded everywhere, then that could be the solution, for which I'm extremely relieved. Extremely relieved. I actually wasn't going to post this until Monday and I knew more but I have now!
The other thing they said they do is they took the old battery from me and they're doing a battery conditioning check over the weekend to see whether that battery really is the problem, and we'll know more about that on Monday too. The problem is if it isn't the issue, then there's an intermittent problem which is going to be a bigger issue. Fingers crossed.
As for the dealership, they are excellent and they always have been every time I've used them. Actually don't have a bad word to say about them and I think it was great that they managed to fit me in this week as soon as they could.
