To Update MG4 software or Not?

Somebody suggested they could have done a software update on the stuff that MG have told them to do eg toning the LKA down.
If I wanted to go from R33 to R63 then I would have to pay.
Must admit I went out in it earlier and it wasn't pulling me over like it normally does.

That was my experience at its 3rd 45,000 mile service last week. The service campaign is only for the LKA, so we still have the SW169-29958-1100R10 for the MPU software. If we wanted this updated, it was £199 - For us everything is fine (as before, even if LKA defaults to ON every time now - but its a completly different implementation now, and doesn't try to kill me for no reason now ) - the other challenge was the inside temp calibration (24 is about right for us), and sometimes we couldn't get carplay to switch on via wire, which was solved by a £30 wireless dongle. So it will stay at R10 unless its free, which is fine.

If you don't mind the small risk you can update the mpu yourself for free, latest is is R40

@haloweenhamster ; thankyou ever so much!! -started at 7:32pm and had R40 installed by 7:45pm ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ - (The dealer wanted £199 15 mins work!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek: )

How is your HVAC working? Has the temperature control scale changed? (i.e. I now set my target to 21°C ... previously, before R38 and an HVAC module update, I had to set it to 24°C to have any chance of a comfortable cabin. Seemingly 24 was around the mid-point of the scale, but now 21 is).

So far no issues, but it has only been a day or so.

I find after R67 the scale is better, but the quality of temperature management is very sub par.

For example around town 21°C is now fine, however as soon as I'm on the motorway (or it could just be after 30 mins or so, but I usually on travel on motorways by this time point ) the car is suddenly blowing cold air in.

I then after increase the temp bit by bit over miles to 22°C, 23°C, 24°C, 25°C but at each step it proceeds to blow cold air in to cabin. Last Friday I had it on 26°C on the motorway (after starting at 21°C) and it was blowing cold air in to the cabin after its initial blast of warm air. It's maddening the system cannot maintain a steady temp at motorway speeds and leaves me to have to keep turning the dam thing on and off. Even setting blower to 1 doesn't help as it doesn't adhere to the set temp. I.e. set to 21°C at blower speed 1, after 50 miles the car is roasting hot.

My AC is always set to 'auto' and target temp of 22°C, works very well, blower starts strongly for a while during hot summer days until it gets down to the target temp then very quiet while it maintains that temp.

As I've said several times (I have a '22 SE SR running 1100R38 plus the HVAC module update) ... I set mine to 21°C and Auto, and it all works fine - heating and cooling. In the (almost) past year (11 months to be precise, so all the typical UK weather conditions) I've never needed to adjust it.

Is there a way to check if the module is on the correct version number? Mine is fine around town and slower roads (up to 50mph). However, as soon as you're going 70mph for 20mins or so (in my car) the heating is no longer steady. This could be the module has not been updated, even though I asked for this to be performed.

Is there a way to check if the module is on the correct version number?
Unfortunately you need a car interface & software called SIPS which is dealership software to see the module versions

Cheers. Ready for a service this month so will ask them to check.
Some people have managed to get a print out of the software versions, you could request a copy
It would be worth stating the heating issue as it'll likely trigger an update if it's available
They're really trying to minimise updates without a warranty reason now
