TURNING OFF MG4 Lane Departure Assist.

After almost 2,000km in our new MG4, I have now realised that turning off a number of the "safety" features is best for me. One of them is lane departure assist. However, I have noticed that, even if I turn OFF LDA prior to my moving, (and the blue "on" marker turns to grey), LDA will appear as green in the top left corner of the screen after a few minutes' driving. This means that I then have to turn if off again, whilst driving (which is not exactly safe).
Is there another sequence that perhaps works and avoids the "whilst on the move" changes ?

I think you have to be in ready mode first to turn LKA off, touch the brake first or it will come back on

Ooooh. I have been getting in. The systems turn off; I turn off the speed warnings in MG Pilot and then LDA.
So, in future, I get in, press the Brake pedal, and THEN make my changes ? Thanks !!

It's actually LKA, for lane keep assist, but you're right in a way, because it actually works as lane depart assist lol

In the pull-down menu it is described as LDP On ... Blue = On, Grey = Off. That's the only place it is shown in blue.

Ah, ok, I don't have the drop down menu with that switch, as I'm still on R13, even so, lane departure assist makes no sense to me.

From any screen (except in AA/CP) simply pull down from the top of the screen to access a separate menu screen. In some versions there is an LDP On option, as well as access to ESC On and other options.

The updated software also improves LKA, in my car I only ever had new software and have found it only occasionally strange and most of the time really very good.

Don't forget here that the SE and Trophy/Luxury (EU) versions have different info software versions too. I've just had my Trophy ER serviced and (automatically!!!) updated to latest R63, which - as with R59 (I believe, but never had) - the LKA is 'turn-offable' via the swipe-down screen (but still not the other pet peeve, the FCA/AEB, regrettably).

Additionally though, in response to my moaning about it, the mechanic - whilst much regretting that he couldn't turn it off for me - said that he would reduce the sensitivity as far as it would go. I didn't know that was even possible, but so far, the only time I forgot to turn it off, it did seem to be remarkably less aggressive. Still too dangerous though if it ever catches you out, in my opinion.

I forgot, it switches back on if you go into Park. Gave me an unpleasant jerk, I'll have to remember to turn it off again if I need to hit Park during a trip.

JIS, I don't know if you've seen this discussion, it gets a bit long and off topic in places, but it seems that several readers here have poor opinions of the LKA feature.
Top and bottom of this is you must turn off LKA every time you enter the car and before you drive off.

It's not just that! I didn't leave the car, it was still in ready mode, I was stopped for a while because my wife left the car briefly, instead of leaving my foot on the brake I put it in Park. Voila, back into LKA.

Is far as I know, after driving an SE once it only had two modes only: alert (no steering correction) and lane departure assist. My Trophy has a third mode, emergency lane keeping (which defaults). The last one is more oriented at centering the car and scans for approaching traffic too. This is clearly more nervous than LDA, which since q2 2024 is quite mild.

Btw, Ik wasn't aware of the park thing. I will try it on mine.

Such a shame that it is impossible to turn off LKA and Intelligent??? Overspeed Alarm permanently.
I do this as a routine every time I get in the car. Otherwise it becomes a Kamikaze pin-ball machine.

Also, if you turn off LKA, and say lift your arse off the seat if you are having a scratch, reaching to the back seat, e.t.c., it will turn on again….

Tested it this morning: Park does not change LKA on mine as long as I sit in the driver seat.
