We had a service in August that indicated we had 3.2mm on the rears. We didn't have any issues with driving on breaking performance, but have had a couple of skids and that's made me a bit twitchy.

The car had done 18k at the time, and now has done 20k. The car has Continental Premium Contacts all round, they seem well reviewed on Black Circles so I might just buy the same again.

Does anyone have any recommendations on if now is the correct time to replace and if so what brand to replace the rears with? Thank you.

The Continental Premium Contacts on the MG4 (from factory) are the Chinese variant, not the EU made variant ... the relative performance is notably different, apparently. (i.e. the EU ones are much better).

When losing individual tyres to nails I went for the Conti Contact 7 on the basis that it would be similar to originals and seemed to have good ratings.

If replacing two at a time I might have looked further but the nail incidents were a few months apart.

Michelin seem to be the most highly regarded. Hankook have been advertising a specialist EV tyre 'ion' which might be worth investigating.

My S5 will go onto Vredestein Quadtracs as and when they need replacing. An all-season tyre which were fantastic on the Misubishi.

Good Year Vectors and Michelin Crossclimate are great.

I Wouldn't have summer tyres again after a very scary incident in the snow a few years back.

Not arguing with this theory specifically, but do we have any data to confirm this?

I had EcoContact 6's on my German made Focus, and they were just as poor in the wet as the ones on the MG4*.

*I am assuming the EcoContacts were European made, but I could be wrong.
