UK debut for MG4 Urban

When the MG4 was first introduced in the UK, the starting list prices (before paint colour) were (as I recall):

SE SR - £25,995
SE LR - £28,495 (i.e. +£2,500)
Trophy LR - £32,995 (i.e. +£3,500)

My SE SR was £26,939 in 2022 ... list price plus £545 for Camden Grey metallic paint plus £399 for the service plan.

Happy to stand corrected, so the new £30k starting price of the original 4 isn't an increase? I'm obviously out of touch.

To be honest I'm not sure, about the base model MG4. But the facelift ER and the X Power are definitely cheaper than the current list price of the old model MG4.

I can see X Powers being sub 25k easily on deals when targets matter, very interested myself as to what deals will be around even by end of this year.
Not so keen on loss of gloss black on front and back but tbh like the new front seats and interior in general.
My lease is up in October so will deffo be having to make a decision, it will hinge on how much mine is to purchase vs what a new model is going for and how much extra it is worth to me.

The standard range (SR) version of the MG4 has been replaced by the MG4 Urban, which starts from a lower price than the old MG4.

The long range (LR) version of the MG4 has also had its price reduced along with the XPower and the ER: all models are cheaper than before.

So, everything you had before is cheaper and there are new variants to choose from: six in total across both cars.

All of these are list prices, in practice there will be dealer contributions and affinity discounts and other offers available, further lowering the costs.

Bottom line: people are getting more for less, unless you are after a SR version of the new MG4. That is no longer available, you are offered 3 versions of the Urban instead. Apparently the SR represented less than 10% of sales.

I actually think a bigger talking point will be the end of the orange paint option, but we will see...

Anyone already thinking they might order an Urban?

It's not for me, if anything I'd go for the new MG4 Extended range model, I much prefer the original body shape, and I like the 300 mile range and decent 0-60 time, I might even try the Ealing Green, nice colour.

Any news on what GSR2 requirements it has to have enabled, like the return of the dreaded eye monitoring system or what system can be turned off , or not , and which always revert to default on start up?
