Your car appears to be unlocked and NOT in the READY condition ( No DRL’s working ) in your great photo ?.
I think this is right the update will let you lock the car the ready mode part was to stop 12v battery going flat after long usage I do hope this is part of the update benefit? ie lock car and don't worry about 12v

That unlock to pause charging will also work with granny too btw
Chorley MG have just called to say there's no update available, so now I'm definitely confused.
They're keeping hold of the car for another couple of hours to try and find any info, but when they plug it in for updates it's saying nothing is available.

@Miles Roberts CG - are you able to offer any insight?

Did you take it to Chorley or Burnley branch?

Sorry, I've been out of the office for most of today. I've not had any calls from the techs though.

Burnley branch. I've just arrived there now to collect it but they're still checking something.
Just messaged the tech, he says that the system won't give them any updates for the VCU (which is the one which controls V2L). It claims that it's already on the most recent release.

So does that mean it can't be updated for the V2L whilst locked/turned off then?
Just wondering what happens next if its saying there's no update.

By the way, I appreciate you responding and contacting them :)

Ok I have heard it only turns off if it detects no current draw

Just had a call from Burnley branch and they said they've had a reply from MG saying there's no update to allow V2L whilst off and locked as it's designed to be used with the car on and unlocked 🤷‍♂️

Just to reiterate that it most definitely IS possible as I do just that frequently. The downside is that it can flatten the 12v battery unless you use the ismart app to check the status every hour or two. This triggers the car to recharge the 12v battery.

The sequence I use is to turn the car on into ready mode, start discharge, turn off the car then lock the doors. The V2L remains active as my washing machine and air fryer will testify!

This is all very confusing. I have only used V2L once, but when I turned off the car and locked it, the dryer stopped. I waited a while to see if it would restart, but no.
Is yours a ‘connect’ by any chance? I can’t understand why some cars can V2L whilst off and others cannot.

No, mine is a 2022 Trophy LR, not a connect. Although it will run the washing machine, my tumble dryer is too high a wattage so causes the inverter to cut out. Maybe try with something slightly lower power?

Yep, tried that multiple times, V2L output stops unless the car is on ready mode and unlocked.

I do wonder about the software version though. Mine was purchased in June this year and has not been back to the dealer since. Reading another thread there is talk of an update which allows you to unlock the car and remove the charger plug even if you don't stop the charging. I can't do that with mine, the plug stays firmly locked in place so maybe I'm missing an update?

I am starting to think is it the way the V2L is wired up as there seams to be 3 methods ?

Have you tried without locking car?

It's all a bit odd really @Miles Roberts CG ?.
I am purely guessing that you had received information from MG Tech, to say that the VSL upgrade was available for the ZS EV facelift, to be used when powered down and unlocked.
I do remember you asking "Jake" to get in touch with you directly regarding this update, towards end of the last pod cast, which you both where kindly presenting.
But it appears that the dealer can not locate this update ?.
Any further help and advice will be gladly received, thank you Miles (y).
