MG4 SE SR
My MG4 has arrived, picked up on Friday and driven a grand total of 67 miles so far, I bloody love it!
It really is a giant leap forward in driving, havn,t charged it yet, It came with a granny charger but I seem to need a lead of my own for un tethered chargers, are there any tips for which one? lots of ads for leads but dont know which to go for...
Will post pics of the car soon, very impressed with the whole ev lifestyle so far..
Happy Easter all.

If you have a Trophy or SE LR, and it has pins in the L2 and L3 slots in the charge port, then go for a 3-phase 32A cable. That way you'll be able to use 3-phase 11kW or 22kW AC charge points when out and about (achieving nearly 10kW charge rate), whilst also still being able to use 7kW single phase charge points (at home or out and about).

Whilst I haven’t even ordered a mg4 yet I have gone for a 3phase 22kw one which I understand will charge 7kw anyway as well as the 22kw ones whereas the 7kw one is the maximum that will take.

If I am wrong I am sure someone else will correct me.

. I went for that one to widen the scope of charging stations that I could use it on. A lot of stations that charge above that round where I live tend to be tethered.

The vast majority of untethered on-street and car-park chargers seem to be single phase. Since AC charging is restricted to 11kW by the car, I took the view that the inconvenience of a heavier and thicker cable wasn't worthwhile for me. On the few occasions that I am likely to want a quick charge, I'll be on the way somewhere and will want a rapid charger that will have a tethered cable.

Just make sure you order an MG4 with 3 phsae charging ie with the L2 and L3 pins populated.

I was looking at ordering the MG4 Trophy which I understood would work on the rapid charging network above 22 kw which if I am correct in my understanding is a 3 phase system.

I am currently pricing up for home chargers that also integrate with Solar Panels. Which it is looking like it will be a Zappi.

When I was in the showroom the other day talking to the salesman. He said that they only come with the Granny Charger cable now and he was honest enough to say they do sell the type 2 to type 2 charger cables but you would be able to get them cheaper elsewhere. Which is what I have done in readiness for ordering a car.

After seeing them in the showroom with the type 2 cable in the boot, alongside the test car we pretty much naievely assumed that it came as standard......

So fitting a reverse wireless camera, buying a 3 phase lead, installing LED bulbs to the interior lights, upgrading the speakers, fitting a rear passenger light, extra boot light and 3D printing trays/supports...enough to keep me project busy.

3kW heater allowed
Yes (as that's 13A at 230V), but 13A is not usually a charge setting for "granny" charge points - the next step up is 16A, which would be inadvisable from a domestic 3-pin socket. In fact, even a 3kW heater is inadvisable from a domestic 3-pin socket - at least for a sustained period. :)

It's a cyclic load (the heater) so wouldn't cause too many issues, we use the same determination on the DNO network for what's is classed as DASH (direct air surface heating) (also called radiant / convection heaters) we only take half the load into account for a heater as it spends over 60% of its time off.

The trophy will charge at up to 11kw AC and 135kw DC )rapid charging)
