This 5 year warranty? (8 years on the HV battery).

Have you actually read it? Whilst there are no obvious time limit reductions, the list of What Is Not Covered (see the PDF file linked from that page) gives them lots of scope to reject warranty claims.

5 is better than 3.

Not sure what Hyundai charges for their EVs in the UK, but I would not consider them comparable with MG on price here in Western Australia.

Maybe the Inster, but that is a similar price with less than half the power output, and a lot smaller than the MG4.

The Kona is about the price of an MG4 Trophy, but only if you're happy to have 66% of the power.

I think the only honest warranty I've ever experienced is Ryobi tools, no questions asked, just go back to Bunnings and get a like for like replacement. Other than that I would not rely on any claim made about warranties provided, shareholders won't want to see profits suffer under something as silly as customer satisfaction.

Fingers crossed time!.

Given the lack of warranty I removed the light cluster and opened up the bumper just enough (few screws under the wheel arch and two bolts next to the boot gives just enough room) to be able to reach in and remove the flap vent which is only held in place by clips on the boot space side. There is a very soft foam rubber gasket that pushes into the flap body and seals against the metalwork - the sealing surface was quite dirty and maybe not quite perfectly inserted so not too surprising water could pass.

Gave the gasket a good clean and dry - it held quite a bit of water inside it's structure, like a sponge, this seems a bit odd to me for something that seals but maybe thats normal

Before refitting I added some small slivers of old RAC card where the clips engage to give a little more pressure on the gasket all the way around and the whole thing now feels more secure. No leaks so far, will see when we next get a big downpour!
