I'm thinking of possibly part exchanging my MG4 Trophy for a different EV as I'm getting fed up of MG's lack of urgency in sorting out the charging problem I've had since February and it's going in again next week.

I haven't found anything that jumps out as the ideal alternative so I thought I'd ask for the groups opinions. It needs to either be a hatchback or SUV.

Kia EV6 GT
BYD Seal excellence.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 N
Probably the only 3 at the moment, and would have to be used, as can't afford the new prices. 🙂👍

Edit, forgot the Hyundai IONIQ 6, like them, too. 🙂👍

Berlingo predictably.
Just over 6000 miles and loving every mile.
It’s not fast but keeps up with my brain.
It is pretty comfortable with the added benefit of being a bit higher to see over many others.
Range is fairly steady at about 200 miles with 3.7 m/ kWh all the way.
The MG5 was a grand car and I enjoyed driving it for about 32000 miles in just over three years. The ability to use Tesla chargers was a boon latterly and I’m continuing to enjoy that ability with the Citroen too.

Just done that very thing. I went for a Polestar 2. One month in and all good. Does everything (and more) that the MG does but better. LKA is done properly, ACC much soother, good range, hilarious headlights (pixels). As it has been in production for a good while there are plenty available in the used market too.

Size-wise the Kia Niro EV would likely be the closest in the Kia range.

Ioniq 5N isn't really a sensible suggestion, unless you were changing from an X-Power.

We have just swapped the o/h aging Suzuki for a 21 plate Kia e-Niro. Only had it a few days but initial impressions are it's not bad. I prefer the look of the Niro EV but that was a stretch too far, although I heard somewhere that id the same car in a new frock. It's comfortable, reasonably efficient, being a poverty spec model and a fairly old design it does look a little dated. It's pretty quick given it's weight and compared to the MG4 you are aware of it.
As far as replacing the MG4, I'd take a look at the Kia EV6 if being in 'Kia world' is any better than MG but all would depend on finances at the time. Then again as we ow have an electric suv maybe a cyberster...........

Yes I think you're right mate, not having a screen directly in front of you would take a lot of getting used to.

Also looked at the Tesla Model 3 Performance. Lack of driver screen put me off that too.
Have to say though, glad I chose the,
X Power, for loads of reasons, it's not disappointed at all. 🙂👍

Depends if you are doing a lot of long-distance journeys.

If you are then a Tesla Y or an Ioniq 5/6 or Kia 6.

If not then you've got tonnes of choice. Pebbles and I have a soft spot for the Cupra Born and I quite like the look of the neighbour's EV3.

If charging speeds and looks aren't an issue then the e-niro or kona seem to be good value.

I did look at the MG S5 but it didn't grab me although they would give me £17,500 for my Trophy which is good as WBAC only values it at £12,500.

So with the amount I'd have to add to the trade in against the S5 added to the WBAC insulting value gives me a budget of £26,000 ish for a used EV.

For that I could get a 2024 year old Mercedes EQA+ with 16000 miles for £24,999 which is half price.

To be hopes, it worth, more than the paper it's written on. 🙄
It is. apart from the usual wear and tear components and most importantly - no quibble. My son in law has a Hyundai Sante Fe and they fixed an actuator for one of the door locks at a couple of months shy of 5 years old, no questions asked, it was faulty - they fixed it.
Oh and he never had it serviced at a Hyundai dealer, the warranty isn't dependant on that unless it's a non OEM part.

Guess it depends on budget and size, used the Mustang Mach-E is almost reasonable and the Skoda Elroq looks like an interesting proposition. The specs on the Renault EV's also look good and they seem to have some good reviews as well as the one button disable for all annoying driver assistance systems. From BMW there is the iX1 which again used is not too over priced.

For any of the better spec cars the main PITA is the luxury car tax, for which I would be expecting the seller to knock a couple of grand from the selling price to compensate.

If you do a lot of road trips, 800 Volt architecture for the charging speed. If customer service is important, then I would go for Hyundai or Kia. My personal choice would be the Ioniq 5. I've not heard a bad word said about them. I had a gen1 Kona before the ZS, but unfortunately it had a design fault which kept stripping the reduction gear. Had it changed twice under warranty and didn't fancy paying for another one when the warranty ran out.

Loving the ZS though, so I think this one's a keeper. :)
