Think he is a Poundland Bond villain but China is every bit as bad, just as questionable politics, marginalising minority ethnic groups, constant threats to invade another sovereign nation and have been declared a national security threat by the government.
And it has been proved that they also have access to our info through there vehicles, pretty much everything computer wise from China is dumping our info back over there. So every bit as bad.
I am not defending one or the other but let's not be hypocrites because we like one car over another.
Sounds like the USA too… it’s just so hard nowadays to find a country that doesn’t have blood on its hands.

I guess for Australians buying a Chinese car is less of an obstacle because all our Teslas and Volvos are build there too, so buying a brand from another country doesn’t really make that much of a difference.

I do like buying Made in Australia as much as I can, but realistically all the little nuts and bolts still come out of China.

Edit; I do appreciate that it was Musk with Tesla that showed all the big car manufacturers that electric works, he may have gone off the rails but a lot of people that become famous do.

If any of my 'data' was going anywhere, I would have zero problems with China but never, ever the US. China has given us great products at the best prices and hasn;t started any wars plus I also worked there for a while, had a great time with very educated people. The US however (which I also visited regularly for years through work), apart from windows software offer next to nothing I want to buy and won't buy as they've provoked, supported and started so many conflicts around the world. Applying tariffs simple endorses the fact that they simply can't compete with the rest of the world, especially Europe & China which manufacture products Americans want to buy.

Quelle surprise!!

America is a cluster fudge at the moment I'll give you that but to put China up there as this shining light in the world is delusional

China not starting any wars is a bit of wishful thinking. They are engaged in many proxy conflicts, most and foremost Ukraine. They are constantly trying to muscle their way into other peoples territorial waters, and they do commit genocide within China. Plus they occupy Tibet.

The USA might be a bunch of backwards war mongers but let’s not pretend China or Russia is any better. They all want to be the dominant world power, and none of them care who they have to kill for it.

I don’t think you can find a single nation in the world that doesn’t do wrong in some way. Well, I’m sure you can, but the rest of us can’t.

Just a few facts about Herr Musk.

He is NOT the founder of Tesla, he just put the cash into when it was needed. He has got rid of the propeller heads who did the hard work and edited history to make himself look good. Sort of like some president guy who's name escapes me right now.
He did much the same with PayPal where his involvement was minimal, but he held a large wad of shares. Once again he edits things to make himself the hero. Much the same with SpaceX.
He is good at picking trends and investing and uses good people to get what he wants.

A bit like a government then, on second thoughts not as bad as a government then
Really, not even close to meeting any govt bench marks.

when has a govt even made a good investment, let people who knew what they were doing to get on with the job and have actually ever come out of any monies spent cash positive?

Govt are better known for looking at what didn't work, then copying it and expecting a different result, they are not know for trying anything cutting edge and have never had the same face from the start to finish claiming the credit for everyone's hard work in the background that actually made it possible.

Govt are best at losing money, blaming the last bloke or management team, sacking someone to act as a scape goat and abandoning any idea the previous govt invested millions on and paying out more as compensation that it would have cost to finish the project .....

A govt designed self driving vehicle would have required two drivers up front, each with independent control of the same components and absolutely zero communication between them ....
