MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Saw it yesterday on anchor in the bay - Green and White. There must be something of value on board because one of the new Aircraft Carriers was on anchor nearby.

Saw it when I went to the supermarket for some bits on my Honda 125cc scooter.

Forgot that it is scooter weekend here in Ryde on the Isle of Wight - hundreds of scooters were all going on a ride out yesterday afternoon.

On the way to the supermarket there were loads of people at the side of the road waving to everyone including myself - I wasn’t part of the ride out, I was just going to the supermarket - I just waved back anyway.
Sadly, HMS Prince of Wales is sitting there because it broke down when leaving to go on an exercise in the USA, according to the BBC.

When it previously advised that it would be leaving this morning I did have a bit of doubt - tugs / shoreside crew / vehicle unloaders / road car transporters - all working bank holiday Monday at double time - very costly ?

@Lespresso - That's when she's scheduled to dock in Southampton.
My point is that she's been anchored in the Solent for over a week!
I would not have expected anything else from MG.
They prioritised the delivery of the MG4 cars to get to Shanghai.
They made special arrangements to get the cars shipped to the UK, even selecting a different port to enable fast track of delivery.
Then whilst the ship was at sea for 4 weeks, nobody thought to book a berth in a very busy port.
So the ship steamed at full speed to arrive into the Southampton anchorage on 21st August at 5am, and there it has sat for over 8 days at considerable cost - wonder what the cost is to have a ship full of cars sat waiting for over a week on anchor?

If there had not been incompetence the ship could have been unloaded and reloaded with European manufactured cars thereby earning money.

At this point, I'd rather believe what Southampton Docks say.
And they now say 1am tomorrow

Spoke to the Dealer today (Baylis Gloucester)
Not all the conversation but the gist of it:

Me: Any update on my order place on 07 Jan 2022?

Dealer: Systems says Oct / Nov now.

Me: Oh that's changed again, are we back to rolling months again?

Dealer: I don't know I can only tell you what the system says.

Me: what happened to the massive numbers of vehicles that MG have promised to deliver in September?

Dealer: I don't know - there is a problem with available parts to build.

Me: And yet they can produce the MG4 and get them here in the next few weeks? How many are you getting?

Dealer: 5 but 2 are demo's and I have sold 1 already so I have 2 available.

Dealer: On the positive side the car you ordered has gone up twice it is now £1200 more to buy but we will honour the price we agreed.

Me: Mate, the car I ordered is the same price as when I ordered it, I would not have expected to pay more. However my car that I was part exchanging is depreciating so I am losing money every month. Also, my employer offer free charging which I have not been able to take advantage of. I expected to make use of that perk since March when you originally told me I would collect the new car so please do not insult me and imply I am lucky because the car has gone up in price to new customers.

I asked if there was any information at all and he said they know nothing until it arrives at the port and that is the point they get the chassis number. Asked for my order number, he asked why and I said I wanted to email MG UK.
I know they may send me the cut & paste response but maybe as more and more customers go direct they might sit up although I doubt it.

Well, Here's a turn up for the books, Some of you might have read about my order problems with MG Chorley. I ordered another one, obviously from somewhere else, not for the same deal and lost the government grant, but that boat had sailed, excuse the pun. Anyway, I'm collecting my car, on Thursday!! the exact car, MG ZS LR Trophy connect in Red. Amazed does not describe it.
