Are MG4s going to be driven by Old Farts!

I’m 31, my little girls Swivel car seat fits fine in the back and the boot gets her big pram in ( it’s one of the most roomiest hatchbacks I’ve had )

Don’t get me wrong it’s not as practical as our Golf SV ( newer version of the Golf plus ) but that thing is the ultimate people carrying normal size car thing, it has massive door bins and fold out tables !

My main gripe with the MG4 is the baffling omission to a rear interior light, it’s such a cheap easy thing to fit at the factory and annoys me every time I load my child into the car when it’s dark. I’ve had to fit a stick on puck light to the C pillar so I can see what I’m doing which is ridiculous on a modern car. Common MG, fit a decent rear light and charge is £20 extra for the car ***.

Its all down to brand / badge snobbery and age doesn't matter neither does the cost to those that are blinded by it, I work with a 23 yr old who has just had his Corsa written off and has put an order in for a Q4 ( not electric ), when I asked him why he did not look around he could not really say why other than he was influenced by the badge, left him speechless by adding, well why not get the Skoda version better specced and at least £2500 cheaper or a BMW worse specced for around the same price more expensive, he went very quiet.
I would say having been snooping here since we ordered ours in September, that the people who are going to buy this look at initial and running costs as their primary concern, along with will it suit my needs. The common niggles like the rear interior light are a simple couple of pounds fix and the fact its a brand new car / model with the snags still to be sorted is not a deal breaker in most cases.
As long as the badge snobs stay away from the MG brand we wont see price hikes of £2-3k a year and put this out of range of the sensible old farts ;)😁

Just noticing from all the threads that there is no mention of fitting their kids in the car, so are owners predominantly older?
In general most EV drivers, because of cost, seem to be from my experience.

Just to start things off I'm 61 going on 14 according to my wife.
I’m an old fart (71) but I do have several grandkids

I’m an old fart (71) but I do have grandkids- most cars have the Isofix points in the back so apart from the odd sticky fingers on the windows and doors I’m sure there will not be a problem. Happy New Year all.

I think the MG4 is a bit of a Generation X car right now. Us guys & girls who have made it this far because we had an entertaining and energetic childhood... and now want a car that delivers the same.

Generation X is 1965 to 1981, I think the most prevalent age demographic, in here, is looking like baby boomers but I'm sure Generation X will be fine for everyone👍

I am a generation X kid to be fair

The good old days of being a teenager and making a tit of yourself without some idiot with a phone recording it and plastering it all over social media.

I use mine as a family car. Two adults two children. 8 & 11. The kids love it, especially the central USB charger 😂

Ive found people of all ages have some sort of badge snobbery, i worked with some one who still refuses to even consider skoda because of their reputation from the 70s and 80s, Im 25 but then again i don't usually go for what the norm go for having bought a Volvo at 18 and had BMW estates and things. I do think the MG4 will attract a younger crowd than other electric cars have though :)

wrong end of my 30's , 1 kid , 1st new car - confirmation for delivery early february. A sensible car at a good price will attract quite a wide spectrum . If the driving dynamics are half as good as the reviews. that will attract another sort.

I'm 34 with the soul of a 60 year old. 6 year old daughter. Grey Trophy on order. I think we're all vulnerable to a bit of badge snobbery, but I've also always had a soft spot for the Underdog/newcomer.

(And yes I completely understand that SAIC is no underdog, but emotionally speaking, the mention of "MG" still raises eyebrows)

I’m concerned about your soul…

My 2 kids experienced the car for the first time, yesterday... and were soon fighting over the single USB port in the back! 🤦‍♂️😂

46, 2 kids (12 and 14), used to drive an MG Maestro as a race car (yes it was possible, and fun). Don't consider myself to be an old or a fart! Loving the car, quiet, comfy, quick and efficient.
