MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

Just collected my ZS Trophy LR silver from JCT600 Bradford. I was told they had over 50 delivered and after matching all the cars to customer orders they have 17 left of various colours and spec.
They're also a nice garage to deal with.

Well, I can't see this happens... I asked if they received any and they said few but delivered to customers which ordered before me.... I ordered early January a pre-ordered car.
I did receive an order number but it was only 5 digits so not sure what info I can get from MG...
My gut feel is that we will be lucky to see the cars before Christmas.

Ahh I missed out on the pre ordered batch and was told mine would be a factory order. I thought they might be hesitant to tell me a dealer and commit in case there was a pre order cancellation but today I was told my dealer was happy for me to collect instead of have delivered (when the vehicle finally does arrive) so I obviously have a specific dealer supplied!

Hmmmm, maybe I am being overly optimistic here but could it actually be possible that the factory has successfully ramped up and over the next few weeks that backlog will be gradually chipped away? There does seem to suddenly be a lot of "I have just collected" posts happening! (Although still a lack of trophy connects!)

Update from glyn Hopkins.. I played dumb but they basically said the ship takes 13 weeks from China and the next one is due on the 1st September, BUT that one will apparently have 5,000 of them on…… why are all the stories so different it’s actually quite funny at this point

Update from glyn Hopkins.. I played dumb but they basically said the ship takes 13 weeks from China and the next one is due on the 1st September, BUT that one will apparently have 5,000 of them on…… why are all the stories so different it’s actually quite funny at this point

I'll believe it when I see it but that does tie up with my delivery estimate!

Yeah knew they didn’t have a clue but couldn’t even be bothered to get into it as I’ve gone through Octopus so immediate disadvantage. Will eat my hat if 5,000 roll off a ship in september….

Reminds me of GPU shortage for the last year and a bit. Have a deposit on a Trophy SR, was told last week should have a call within 7 days for arranged delivery, this seems unlikely now.

Just checked their website they selling a used trophy connect for £37k not even sure SR or LR, not sure what they charging for a new one.

They've got a brass neck on them! £37k and it has 6k miles on it .

No wonder why one of my dealer's first questions, was whether I wanted to cancel my order. Now the updated cars no longer have a pan roof, they'll be charging a premium for any current stock.

I ordered a silver SR connect from JCT600 in January. Hoping they're going to find a match!

Has anyone tried phoning MG UK directly to try and get a update on delivery of there car ?
I see lots of messages on here of people getting email replies , but none to say they have tried calling directly.

I have twice, but on both occasions got a (polite) “computer says no”

I have come to the conclusion that nobody from the dealer to MGUK to SAIC know what each other are doing.

All the excuses contradict each other. I am fed up of being treated very poorly. I feel like I am almost begging for them to supply me with a car.

Basically if you order via a preferred dealer you have a better chance than if you go to a small dealer. I failed here going to a small local dealer.

If you commit to order a car you have less chance of getting it than if you tell all dealers to contact you once they have a car on their forecourt - guaranteed to get a car within a few weeks although you may have to travel to collect. Again failed here - they have me on a list, try to get more market share by releasing stock to people who are not prepared to wait, using all the parts up that was supposed to build my car.

I really can’t see a car materialising any time soon. They really don’t care - for every one of me there are a hundred that will buy the car.

Either sit and wait until MG decide to prioritise me to supply me a car over some dealers who need stock to sell, or worse still they could decide to cancel it because to supply my vehicle at the November 2021 price list is not as profitable as using the parts to make one without a sunroof and sell for a grand more.

It is disgraceful how we are being treated now and it is a concern how are they going to be if there are any problems with the cars once they are delivered - getting through to customer services is a joke.

I think you shouldn’t take it so personally, it’s not really mgs fault. If you want to apply blame, then covid for the lockdowns resulting in the chip manufacturers stopping making car chips (cos the dealerships were in lockdown) and making small electronic chips (increase in tablet sales cos of lockdown) Or if you blame covid for lots of other things, how about Mr Putin? A lot of semiconductors are made in the Ukraine.
Back to Covid, China have just come out of another lockdown due to the zero Covid policy so xi Jinping is the one you could blame.
It’s not just Mg…. Most other makes are having the exact same problems

Hmm I think MG are not helping them self's in the UK we have people wanting from Dec still yet March orders are getting delivered and dealers have in some cases 17 car spare to sell to the public its definitely down to MG's miss management
As for semiconductor shortage I don't think this is because of covid it was well documented it was down to a factory fire

The Ukraine supply wiring looms to some manufacturers unlikely to one's in China
I think Russia supply a lot of the raw materials for batteries but China are still trading with them
And definitely covid has also got a lot to blame but its funny MG can supply cars to countries that put a financial penalty on late deliverys

To be fair, nobody is being forced to pay £37k..... Someone may choose to pay that amount. Their money, their choice.

That's true, even though this car isn't worth that price. There's a reason they say 'a fool and his money are soon parted'.
