How much should first service be please?

Also should it be before the first anniversary of picking up the car? Would it matter if it’s just after the one year?

I just got quoted £186 for first service that seems very high.

Any other suggestions for around London for cheaper first service please?
12 months or 15k milage under 10k maybe cheaper as classed as low milage raite.

How can I find the cheapest MG approved place near to me please?
The service can be a couple of weeks before hand if that's more convenient for you. It also depends on availability of slots at your chosen dealer. I booked mine 5 weeks ahead so I could get an appointment on a weekday that suited me.

To find a dealer put your postcode into this site and if you have a choice check the reviews on Google.

If you want a service plan quote through MG's main site look here:

I'm due a service next month as it is a year since I got my MG4. I've only done 9000 miles however, so can i wait until 15,000 or should it be done before?

My dealer is quoting £138 for the service, is this about right?

I'd question the need for a "service" at all.

The common checks we should be doing ourselves. Tyre wear, wipers, fluids.

Brake checks should be free from any tyre/brake dealer. EV shouldnt need too many brake replacements

Any routine software update should be OTA.

Same for ICE vehicles if you look at what they actually do but more so for EVs

I agree, it's a significant chunk for stuff I can check. But being my first new car I feel I need to retain the warranty as I presume without a service it won't be honoured?

Yes, I understand. Teslas have set these expectations.

However, many people just don't do these checks, so having an independent check is useful for them and for the rest of us that might meet them on the road.

The main thing you are paying for is the MG Assist cover and the anti-corrosion warranty which is subject to regular inspection.

Managed to get the price down to £101 over the phone. They said all updates will be installed, a wash and vac and the AA assist extended. I have breakdown anyway so not fussed by that.

Just had first service at a leeds mg dealer who supplied the car.

paid 129 (car has done 15000 miles).
included a list of checks on the paperwork, im not convinced they had the wheels off however (but it was ticked off).
A video walkaround was sent, service record updated. washed and vac.
No mention made of the AA renewal, so I presume this just carries on.

I did ask about the bulge in the undertray, and nothing will be done as all cars are like it according to the service advisor. I questioned this as to the lack of protection for components under there. He also assured me that the components (motor) are waterproof, I have worked in the electrical field for over 30 years and not seen a waterproof motor yet !!!

No software updates applied, even though I did ask about the new style heating controls. Not applicable to my age(feb 2023) of car apparently ?

So overall not bad an experience but not great.

Also had to pay a £10 insurance fee for the loan car(suzuki swift, which made me glad to get back in my own luxury mg4)...

I wouldnt have accepted that, its a year old and there have been lots of updates since then including the much clearer heater control interface and one pedal driving option.

I'll be stipulating I want my car on the latest software as part of the service. I find the tesla style cockpit view heating controls quite fiddly
