Car not charging on DC chargers / Fault code P1EB2 Battery Interface Control Module 1 Not Programmed

My MG4 Trophy had its 1st service last Thursday. This included a software update. The first time I needed to charge the car following this was on a trip back from Gloucester where I stopped at Reading services which has Gridserve chargers. I paid and connected. I noticed only the two right side of the four charging point lights on the car lit up, normally all four are purple. The Gridserve charger screen said connecting to car then said charging stopped and showed an error, unable to connect to car. The car also showed an error saying take to dealer.

I checked to make sure the car was set up correctly to receive a charge which it was. I tried three other chargers and had the same problem. I called my MG service centre, they couldn't offer any help or explanation, useless. Eventually called MG Assist who called the AA. AA man ran a diagnostic check, couldn't find anything. Asked me if I'd had a recent software upgrade and when I said I had, he said that's your problem. He disconnected/reconnected 12v battery, no difference, so towed me home. I connected to my 3 phase Zappi overnight just in case and this morning 100% fully charged??? Has anyone had a similar experience, or can offer any suggestions as to what might have been the problem?

Have a look at this thread. Sounds like the same thing. I wonder about merging this thread in.

Have now been using the cable for a couple of days whilst away in Wales. Purchased a 1.8m length and should have went for a longer one, maybe 3m, as the last two chargers have made it very close to get the cable round the side of the vehicle due to access. It's really tested my reversing technique and on one occasion I've parked across two bays to get nearer the charger.
I've also contacted MG customer service about being reimbursed the cost of the cable as this issue is completely out of my hands , don't hold any hope but worth a try

Thanks very much I'll speak with the dealer. Interestingly when I spoke to service centre about the charging problem I also mentioned since the service I was getting a warning from the rear nearside tyre pressure gauge that it was under inflated despite being at 2.6 bar. I was told they had received lots of notifications of this and MG had told them to inflate all tyres in future to 40 PSI to overide the sensor!
Should help your miles/kWh

Bingo! Exactly the same problem! My car charged at home on AC current. I've just tried a BP pulse DC charger and no connection to car as per yesterday at Gridserve. This has only happened since software update last Thursday.

I've merged you in with the main thread now. Sorry, this has got a couple of conversations a bit interleaved, but it's where this discussion belongs. Discussion about cables and tyre pressures is a bit off-topic.

Had a response from MG reading the reimbursement of cost of cable. Explained everything to them and they originally agreed to cover the cost. Telling me to go to local dealers and ask them to reimburse me and show the email to dealer so that could get reimbursed by MG. The cable wasn't bought from MG , as they wanted £204, but a third party. Went back to them and told them this and they have said they couldn't reimburse a purchase from a 3rd party.
Gone back to them and asked them to supply a MG cable and I will send the other back under the 30 day return policy from the company I bought .

Just wondering how wide spread this is ?
My garage told me that I was the second person to have the new update to fix it, and asked me to let them know that it had worked. When I did this they said they were going to “roll it out to the other customers with the same issue”. Sounds pretty widespread to me but hopefully now there is the new update it should be easily fixed.
