MG4 Software Update Thread

R33 is associated with the Trophy spec.
It's also associated with the SE ... I should know, I have it and created a whole thread about it. That's why people should be more complete with their references. :)

1100R33 is for the SE (and is the latest)
1300R33 is for the Trophy (and is not the latest).

@gwatuk 1100R21 is the latest that is installed as standard at PDI ... 1100R33 is only installed if you report specific issues (e.g. lack of external temperature indication is a safety issue; e.g. you're having Bluetooth issues).

Just taken delivery of a MG4 SE standard range.
The software is R21 but from this thread it looks like it should be R33.
Is this correct?
Thanks
R33 is the latest SE update. There is also a separate thread about R33 SE

Have OTA updates started rolling out? Spotted this on Facebook MG4 group.

New Trophy (end of March) 1300R40

Less than delightful response from MG dealer in Hong Kong (Richburg Motors). They claim that there are no module or infotainment updates available at all and they have no idea if or when any will ever be available.

I have an SE LR (I believe these ones that came to Hong Kong first were original UK spec) running R13 on the infotainment and have plenty of issues with ACC, LKA, auto headlights, high beams, bluetooth, autohold warning, SOS warning and app connection flakiness. The reply from the dealer was to avoid using ACC and disable LKA as they don't work well and the other issues are fine if you stop the car power down the system and restart.

I will keep pushing them as I can't see why in Hong Kong, that is a stones throw from the SAIC main offices, there should be no updates for the cars. It doesn't look the best for MG here when the tesla model 3 price has now been slashed in Hong Kong to only £3000 more than I paid for my MG4.

This is all very confusing! My Trophy was serviced last week and some software was upgraded but the thing I wanted upgraded the most was the heater controls which have come back the same. The software number is still R33. Should it have been R46 and does it include the larger heater icons?

Yeah should be R46 which as I understand it, is the latest version the UK dealers can get their hands on at present. Did you complain about a specific issue when the car went in? I was told that they won't just update software on request anymore as they don't get paid by MG UK for doing this but if customer complains about a issue/issues, they will update it and claim their time back from MG UK as a warranty issue.

There may well have been updates, but not necessarily mandatory for the Infotainment and so the only version you can (easily) see may not show any change.

Have you tried ACC? Does this show any change? (The obvious change is the speed target going up/down in 1 mph increments rather than 5).
So turns out I do have some update of sorts as the ACC has changed. What other updates were along side this?

Yes mine got the service campaign updates. Only things I noticed were 1 mph increments on ACC and pre heating while plugged in and not charging. There will be more but that is what I have found. Still on R33 but that is fine with me as I prefer the original HVAC screen.

The pre heating was the one I wanted sorting so that is good. My tyre pressure has also stopped moaning as well.

Had my first service done last week and due to bluetooth issues they updated to R46 (annoyed that R59 was pulled as I probably would have got that!)

Bluetooth was even worse afterwards! I've since factory resetted it twice, once through the normal menu and once through the secret menu. Since the secret menu one, it seems to have improved but still early days.

I have 2 questions though. It seems a factory reset is not a "full" one. My custom drive mode and some other setting were the same as before. I'm curious if there is a way to "fully" reset it?

Secondly, the new AC menu comes up on start up all the time but will not disappear unless I manually get rid of it or the cameras etc come on. Is this normal?

Regarding the AC menu, everytime AC is turned on, or if it was left on when you locked the car it will start up. My car came with R46 so I have known no different but it bugs me that it doesn't auto disappear after 30 seconds or something similar.

I'm sitting in my dealership waiting for my car to be serviced. Reading people's posts sounds like I should be getting version R46 of the car's infotainment system?

Also are people really getting OTA updates now or is it just for Trophies / Gen 2 cars or something?

A lot of dealers will only update the infotainment unit if you complain about certain issue, bluetooth repairing being one of the main ones

In terms of OTA, they are still not available but I did see a pic that came from a French user showing a message about receiving an update OTA. That's the only proof I've ever seen of anyone getting one
