So how does a cycle work? If the home battery only goes from say 30% - 80% and remains between that SOC what counts as a cycle? At the moment I figured I would drain what I have left in the battery down to 20% just before 11:30pm and then charge it to 100% until 5:30am. Then if its a sunny day...
It took me ages to sign up. Tried on my laptop on multiple browsers, different links. Octopus support then said go through the mobile app and from home page click on the octopus intelligent link and it worked that way for me.
To get around this I set my home battery to charge at 1% during the period octopus schedules the charge. I also plug it in as close to 11:30pm ad possible and ask octopus to finish at 5.30am
EXACTLY!
So I can get another 9.6kWh usable battery installed on top of what I have now for £3360 as I already have the inverter etc.
Based on that it's 7.5p x 9.6 = 72p.
Days to pay that off would be 4666 days or 12.7 years. Just not worth it is it.
Yes i was thinking of buying two more 5kw batteries. But I worked out I wont make my money back for say 10 years so not worth it.
On average we use 7.5-8kw a day without charging cars.
We have usable 9.6kw battery which covers our house. So I figure charge my battery to 100%. If its a bad day...
Very strange as they do list it. I have an Anderson which isn't supported but because I have a skoda Enyaq which is supported my charger doesn't matter. Then my MG4 just charges as it always has, I.e non intelligent.
So when should I drain the battery, say 10:30pm - 11:30 pm to say 20% SOC? Then the house still has some to last until 11:30 until I start to charge again and its cheap until 05:30am?
I don't think i'll have much issue with daytime drainage because I rarely charge my Skoda Enyaq at home and if...
So I now have Octopus Intelligent so between 11:30pm - 05:30am its 7.5p.
I also have solar and a home battery. Is it now worth me charging my house battery to 100% overnight and exporting the battery and excess solar during the day? Will it affect the life of the battery more than I will get...
Yep put it on from 11:30pm - 05:30am and charged to 100%. Good times. Also charged home battery a little. Generated 10kw of solar today also so everything is fully charged and exported 2.2kw. Good times!
Ok so I've moved to Octopus Intelligent from Go. I have Solar, 10kw battery, Skoda Enyaq and MG4.
I have an anderson A2 charger so I can only switch to Intelligent because I have a compatible Skoda Enyaq car.
What happens now when I want to charge my MG4 and home battery if needed? Do I still...
I have 19 405w panels and two 5kw batteries and a 5kw inverter
My house was only built this year so good all round, no underfloor heating though but very well insulated
Ive had a quote from Octopus for £3048 after the 7.5k has been taken off. This includes everything.
Seems like a good quote as a firm quoted me about 7k after the grant but they said Octopus use crap pumps.... anyone had a Air Source heat pump fitted from Octopus?
Thanks
Ok so I have solar, I have Ev cars, now I'm looking to get an Air Source Heat pump.
I have a new build built this year so we'll insulates, and I have an LPG gas boiler.
Is a Heat pump worth it? Air or ground? I see grants have gone up to 7,500.
Any advice?
Yes I have 2 5kw batteries.
On YouTube people were saying g North facing is about 70-80% less affective than South... is that not correct?
As long as its a bright day it will generate well regardless?
