Accelerator pedal stuck down!

It's an Xpower. I expect it to be software related.
I tend to agree. If it doesn't happen without OPD, most likely it is software. But it could be triggered by faulty hardware as well.
The weird thing is that it suddenly occurs. New cars? If soft/firmware versions are similar with older cars, it is probably hardware related.

Personally, if it's just one week old, I would reject it directly. UK seems to have a national complaints register. Report it there. If you can film it (lift both legs), put it on social media.

The OP said the pedal sprang up afterwards, indicating that it was stuck down, a mechanical fault rather than software.

I had this happen to me just now, accelerated on a slip road as i joined main road i was gaining fast on a car, i lifted off but car kept accelerating, i applied brakes and when i released brake it accelerated again, i beard a clonk and it returned to normal.
I am assuming???? It was a stuck pedal, will investigate further.

This is an X Power version.
Only other thing is i had reset the Infotainment screen about 30 seconds before due to a music volume problem but doubt it is relevent.

It happened to me once, turned out to be the car mat got stuck over the tip of the accelerator peddle.

Yes this was it, i just checked it this morning, never happened before but when i pressed pedal hard down it just catches on the rubber mat.
Sorted it now.👍

I've had that pedal stuck full open myself, finally narrowed the problem down to my right foot resting on top of the pedal ...... fortunately it was on a clear open road and the MG4 realised something was wrong around the 140km/h mark and reduced the power to the rear wheels .....

Not once as far as I'm aware has this ever happened due to a car software failure. It's usually the driver wrong pedaling or accelerator getting jammed in the carpet etc. I find it amazing that people blame the car when the car really isnt at fault, just fess up to making a mistake. This latest one, if the car had accelerated forward it would have continued until it hit the back of the shop which it has not. This all points to driver error, they pressed the accelerator by mistake or missed the brake pedal resulting in the event described.

But they'd probably put the driver through an exhaustive driving test to ensure all the marbles are still rolling if they admitted they had stuffed up, easier to blame the car .....
