Android Auto blank screen

I have a Bluetooth adapter for connecting my Google pixel 8 phone as I couldn't get it to work with the charging/data cable (tried six cables)
My issue is the screen goes blank if I have to reverse the car before driving off. Works ok if I haven't reversed first, anyone know a fix for this?

Android Auto regulary goes blank. Appears to be a Android Auto bug

My iPhone does the same, if you touch the screen everything is still there I just can’t see it ??‍ at least my music plays ok though so it’s still better with the Bluetooth adapter
