Listening to the latest Dacia adverts on the radio they seem to be extolling the virtues of you just using your phone entirely - something like "why pay for a screen when you've got a flashy one in your pocket?"

My 2nd VW Up was like that.
The first (2013) one, I could have an optional TomTom, but when I replaced it in 2016, they'd replaced that with a phone mount.

I suppose not everyone has a smart phone, even now, but I think the answer to that would be to offer one for the car as part of the deal.

If you're spending £25k+ on a car, not having a £200+ smartphone is a choice.

That's not always true. Plenry of people get cars through schemes like Motability and don't have/want a smartphone. Let alone one that's gonna be compatible

Yes true, but they are not spending £25k+, the state is.
