Car just finished balancing on granny charger so opened boot to put away charger; boot light on. Unlocked car to remove plug and re-locked car; car hooted to indicate an open door and the boot light went out. Had to close boot and re-open to regain the light.
I can understand the logic because you might not see the light with a partially-closed boot but the hoot should alert you to a problem. A boot-light permanently on is a drain on the 12v battery.
