Yesterday, when I got in the car I got a control system failure error which told me to drive to an MG garage. The only problem was that the car refused to move.
I could select R or D but the car wouldn't move despite the power reading 30%. I tried the instructions in the manual to release the EPB - no change.
As it was a Sunday afternoon I felt the AA wasn't really an option as they wouldn't be able to tow me with the brake on.
Eventually, I checked the fuse numbers and saw Fuse 57 was the fuse for the Electric Parking Motor Control Uint. I pulled the fuse and replaced it and the car was fine. Not for the faint hearted but it might help someone else.

That's useful. You might get the same result by disconnecting the 12v battery and reconnecting to reboot the systems which I assume removing fuse F57 did for the parking brake.

There is a lesson for us all, have a calm and thoughtful approach, a bit of knowledge, read and understand the manuals and this forum (searches) and a lot of the irritating problems can be self solved. ( I bet it wasn't raining though ). Well done. (y)
