Charging Cables

Saw some BS article from the Daily Mirror on my phone today saying charging cable theft is increasing. They quoted that thieves are stealing them and then weighing them in for the copper for £200
If that's the case then I'm going to start buying the £100ish ones in bulk and weighing them in.
I did see that but it was saying the copper was worth £50 and that to replace a stolen one would cost £200 😛

Evonestop are just under £150 for a 10m 32a cable. Which is a Rolec cable. Not sure I would be paying more money for something kingfisher plc assembled.

I would only buy branded, been stung too much with cheap cables for my phone let alone my car...
Buy cheap, buy twice !.
But Halfords prices are a bit on the expensive side I think.
We needed a rear wiper blade for my wife’s car a few weeks ago.
It was a Bosch unit and was almost £12 to collect in store, same blade from Amazon £6.99 with free delivery.
There are plenty of specialist EV cable companies available who make a quality produce at less than what Halfords charge.
They are only a “third party” ordering a cable from “Ring” and then adding in a commission for themselves.
I would shop around, there are plenty out there to be found.
You could probably buy one from the MG dealer for that type of money.

There are a few members who used Evonestop for their cables, myself included.
I am more than happy with the quality of my type 2 cable.
I believe they are affiliated to Rolec ?.

Ships directly from Rolec. I believe they offer direct distribution services and 'white label' products for businesses.

Waiting for my new Zs ev long range don’t want to buy type 2 to type 2 32amp charging cable from MG as it’s over priced any recommendations to get same cable . Also we don’t get mats any recommendations on them
If you are buying your MG using the affinity program for NHS or essential worker you should get a free type 2 cable with the car

Congrats on the new purchase! I done a video on Accessories for the first gen ZS EV including mats, genuine parts so should be same as UK. We're in Australia so cant comment on cables as we would be different wholesalers here.

New MG Type 2 cable going here if anyone is still looking:
I am selling a brand new Genuine MG Type 2 charging cable. Complete with bag still has plastic wrap on cable (not used). If anyone interested open to sensible offers.

Many thanks

I had the standard 5 metre tethered cable on my wall box in my garage.
I updated the wall box last year and decided to replace the tethered lead at the same time.
I upgraded it to the 7,5 metre lead.
It is way to long to reach the front of the ZS charge port.
But I wanted the facility that the cable could reach a car with a rear side mounted charge port, that a lot of manufactures use.
The longer lead enables this with no problem.
My public charging cable is the standard 5 metre size.
With the ZS EV and other models having front charging ports, it most cases it is absolutely fine !.
Using longer cables is great, but they are more weighty but storage and keeping them tidy can be difficult.
